As a general rule, this does in fact seem to be Team5’s attitude … so even if the original article is some other developer then they are only echoing Team5’s sentiment. T5 has abandoned these forums and instead spends all their time in 3rd party sites where they get more attention because they like being fawned over.
it isn’t the developers that are the problem… it is the business model. Blizz used to always make the best games and now they suck… hmmm activision maybe? a scum company bought the blizz that was once good and all the talent left.
I have read through all the replies and even made my own. I believe this is a healthy discussion about 2 sides of the issue of "toxicity " within this forum. We have some who see Blizz as the problem and others who think that the solution is within reach of those who are active in these forums. The paradox of the issue for the later group is if we as a community are responsible to make a less toxic environment in the forums how to achieve it.
In simple terms , by simply doing nothing are we contributing to the problem?
I’m not suggesting that everyone needs to shut-down offensive posters, but doing “something” is important.
It’s going to up to all of us to decide what best serves the community as a whole for a more productive forum environment.
For some that will mean dialing-back our responses, while others will want to object to a blatant “toxic” post or response.
The first step to fix any problem is to acknowledge there is something that needs to be fixed.
It still does not make sense to me.
When ppl wants to be validated, they want other to listen to them. They do not care about others (esp those that disagree).
Those that are not willing, does not care if they are being ignored.
As such, you may find there is no real incentive.
Alternatively, using an example, if Blizz had produced a structured survey, then they can gather useful info in a manner that is non offensive and useful.
(player can get a free pack for completing the survey which then becomes the incentive)
It would be strange if you expect player to produce a survey, answer their own survey.
If you reflect back, do you find your effort being held back by the lack of dev/mod support on this forum, rather than the community?
B.S. Devs are paid for their job so they have the responsibility to reply on the official forum, regardless of its toxicity.
Like my cousin is working at a Toyota Service Center, and once time he got an angry customer spitting at his face. And he still can’t just stay at home to avoid customers altogether, right?
It isn’t the job of game developers to be posting messages up on these public places. That is the job of community managers.
Put into an alternative perspective, we seen some regular posters performing the communication role, easily perform by any employee as well.
Some had tirelessly updated info, created discussions, explained concepts/topics w/o recognition, benefit or pay.
Thus, when we see the absence of dev in this forum, you can see the wide difference.
or are those regular posters secretly Blizz employee?
Companies would have never gotten away with ignoring their customers in the past.
But today Western consumers are sheep, they allow companies to trample all over them. In the rest of the world companies no longer get away with it.
Look how arrogant Tesla is in the US and Europe. But in China, Elon Musk crawls on his knees and apologises personally to clients to avoid a massive backlash.
Wow an entire topic with nothing but shills with thousands of post still shilling blindly. The snowflake devs can’t take a little criticism then they should stay away. A bunch of poptarts that get their feelings hurt and like like they just got shot , more proof how worthless this generation is. The internet has created such tough guys but get them face to face and it’s a 180 in character. The forums are for criticism not for circle jerks of sjws to cry to each other that someone said something that hurt them. Let them stay away and hopefully all you charmin soft crybabies will go with them.
I rather mildly called someone a bad person when they told me to overcome my disability. That’s it. It’s really been tearing me up because I love to play Hearthstone. It’s really one of the very few things I do for fun, and I do it a lot because, as a disabled person, I don’t get out much. I also have had a very difficult time, as a disabled person, maintining friendships since I can rarely leave my house, and I was hoping that I had been cultivating some kind of relationship with a few people here on the forums, but the fact that almost no one seems to care that I was banned has really hurt as well. I know a lot of people will probably just make fun of me, or maybe this post will just get deleted and this account banned as well, but I’m kind of dispairing that one of the things I find most enjoyable in life, Hearthstone, has been so tainted for me by this experience.
exactly this… stand up and stamp it out - screams of cowardice or just giving up
agreed, i got banned as well without insulting anyone
because it’s our job to post here? we’re on the official forum, OFFICIAL, it makes no sense that the devs/blizzard employees prefer to use another forum
Why not? It’s not like their job description demands interaction with the playerbase, last I checked. The devs that do interact with players on social media generally do so because they want to, and therefore will do it in whatever platform they find it easiest/most comfortable to do so.
This isn’t a particularly difficult point to grasp.
Noone said it wasn’t particularly difficult point to grasp. Just doesn’t make sense… why not just speak to the players on the actual forum of the game you are working for
Do you use Twitter or Reddit?
because it is in ours?
why not do it on the official forum of the game? with its players? you know, in order to post here, you need a game account which means posters are players whereas posters aren’t necessarily players on reddit
I sure hope not.
Lemme try again, with emphasis:
Fun fact, there’s Hearthstone players on Reddit and Twitter too! Probably a lot more than here!
Oh yeah, creating a free account and playing against the Innkeeper to hit level 10 is sooooo hard.
I saw. They deleted my posts defending you as well.
FYI, using alts to skirt action and discussion of prior forum actions on accounts are also violations.
I’m sorry you had to deal with all of this.
Then you should leave.
i doubt that 100% of the posters there are players which is the case here
and not having to create an account in order to post, is harder?
