NOOOOO! They removed Almagram from BG

Haha its good to see so many people used that card as a crutch, I’m glad its gone. Its so tiring to see whoever gets the best amalgam setup gets top 4.

Think about what you did for a moment.

Well after a few games :

  • people don’t wanna try murloc anymore, or at least very few of them
  • mech are ofc the most reliable tribe (most units, most ds, the egg was already a underestimated card now is it a very good one)
  • with poisounous almost gone, game end faster with the weirdest builds, the midgame is all that matters, get some huge stats and you are good
  • the previous point makes demon LEGIT, go huge with wrath weaver and floating and people won’t be able to kill you
  • Curator is the best hero, Daryl must be second

It’s too early too say but so far the mode only relies on pure stats. No amalgam means no poisonous (except for curator and the wreckless guy who went for murloc), so 90% of the time units won’t die if they are big enough.

In two runs, a demon went top 3 twice and ended first once. I was wrong this patch is not so bad after all.

I really don’t understand why they’ve removed what always seemed to be a core card for the Battlegrounds mode.

No point playing any tribe but Murlocs now…

After playing some games,i can say I kinda like the changes and I think they did work out pretty well.

Poison isn’t gone,you can still get maexna and make small murloc poison in the endgame.
Egg is good,fun build as well (if you get the cards that is).

I would say its the best possible move, Amalgam is a really boring card. Good as a filler in normal HS games but for a mode like BG’s its a terrible card where it goes from being a filler 3 mana drop too an absolute monster.

At 6000 to 6500…

Murloc has only been in the top-4 (of most game, +500 today) only once. Demon and Mechs appear to be doing quite well. Beast is doing okay but not great. I’ve personally lost the two times I tried to go Murloc as you just lose so much early right now.

Early results are that mech egg at 4 is super op.
Demons are doing way better with tons of poison gone.
Murloc health guy to 3 is hurting murlocs way more than I thought.
Menagarie is pretty much dead.
Beasts are about the same same.

Mechs are the winner so far for me. Those eggs at 4 are bonkers.
Demons are the second winner.
Murlocs might actually be balanced now. Not 100% sure.

Murlocs are pretty much death.
Demons are not that amazing but ok-ish,it is still easy to tech in a poison murloc or 2 in the endgame.
Deathrattle is good and fun,you can go beasts and mech with it and there is many minions that support it.
A lot of weird compositions I have seen,it seems difficult to make something coherent. Which is fun,you have to make something up that is often out of the book.

Making amalgam T3 or even T4 would be enough. Removing it feels like an overkill. But if that’s what it takes to get more variety, it won’t be missed.

When your best unit overrall is a tier 2 minion, it’s time to remove the card.

Menagarie will be fine, you just can’t exploit the “dragon tribe” which was unfair. Basically only one minion could get the dragon buff. It was stupid that it affect only one tier 2 minion. Now that dragon buff is exclusif to a hero which make much more sens.

That card was a huge problem. Now I expect mech to be way to good because of the egg on tier 4 (Way to good) and they are king of DS now. Murloc can’t cheat their way to DS + poison with one or two Almagram. Now they want divine shield, they need a tier 6 minions.

Mech is probably way to good right now.

Well a few more games and the mode is now awful. The mid game matters way too much and is way too punitive. You get bad/average drops on the tier 2 and absolutely nothing on tier 3 the game is over. No way too come back you gonna take too much damage before being able to stabilize your board.

Now that cobalt is the king of the mid-game, the RNG is way more important. You hit one and some Psychotron you are golden, you don’t, hit bad drops and your hero can’t give buffs, you gonna die and fast unless you manage to get some synergies early on which is very very random.

With amalgam gone the mode is filled with unusable buffs for most hero so a lot of time you will have the choice between three/four buffs, nothing to put them on and will waste gold on reroll to hope getting something valuable.

Yes class are now a bit more even in the end-game, with mech above and murloc while being still strong struggle more to get there. But on the early stages it’s just the fu**in lottery. The pool is filled with useless buffs that nobody wants and you can’t get the optimal value out of it. Amalgam was strong but it was strong for everybody. Now it’s : “oh you got a spawn, a golem, a minibot, a rat and Old Murk-eye well good you managed to win some games but now you better cross your fingers on the tier 3 because someone is already scaling demons another one is having a full mech board and got two mechatooths so if you don’t figure something out fast you will not even see tier 4 so will half of the players”. It’s aggro meta where the luckiest will go deep. Amalgam was making things a bit more even especially for weak heroes, the “oh you are behind, well here goes two houndmasters a micro-machine and boombot, too bad that you don’t have a beast and don’t expect something from a reroll LOL”. Was at 8.9k, drop 500, still won some games but it really is like a coinflip whether you can keep on with some good minions that synergise or if you are able to create stats with buffs or your hero. If you can’t you are done and fast and with such a awful pool early on it happens way more than before. It’s fun to struggle to build a logical comp and we can see some really weird boards for a change but the head or tails approach is really not fun. Get rekt by RNG, get rekt fast, not this fun anymore.

Cobalt is way too good at tier 3 and needs a nerf. Putting it at 4 makes a ton of mechs at 4 though. Not sure what to do here but its bonkers at 3

Without cobalt at 3, afk is literally thrash tier hero.
