New Shaman Rare: Weaponized Wasp

This fits amazingly well in my standard shudderwock deck that takes advantage of lackeys. Early removal around the 2-3 mana mark was missing and this goes really well.

It actually looks better at first glance than the effect warrants. It’s alright, about as good as Sunreaver Warmage - which is to say good, but not great.

there’s a 4 mana discover a beast card in wild, tomb spider

Really good card and they seem to be wanting to push the Lackey presents in Shaman and they also made the obvious addition so it wouldnt be broken by require that you control a Lackey for the battlecry to work. Would have been too good if it was holding a Lackey.

Looks nice, but I really wish they won’t forget shaman elementals by introducing this new archetype.

They’re giving Lackey Shaman a real push it would seem, we’ll have to see if it get’s enough support, but this definitely helps.

Will see play if Lackey shaman is a thing.

This is a big one for me. My favorite thing about Shaman by FAR is Elementals. The whole “EVIL lackey master” things doesn’t really do it for me.

I think it’s a fair bit better.

Same stats over two bodies but the lackey is quite a bit better than just a 1/1.

I don’t think it’s worth considering a situation where the lackey is still on the board as anything but lucky imo.

Even just looking at stats, 4/4 on 4 is much better than 4/4 on 5.

If you can’t kill it with 3 damage battlecry chances are you can’t kill it with 4 and you will need something much bigger anyway.

Yea war ur right about same-turn upping this card’s value to playable.
Problem is…same-turn requires drawing them together.

This is exactly why rexxar is AWFUL at combo, it has no combo-friendly non-beast draw.

Idk same-turning stuff just gets / feels old to face.
Hold hold hold…deploy…its all fine but the prob is not all classes have the tools to draw, tutor even better, sustain, for combo-same-turn decks.

Like one reason Rogues were sooo good at it is they had all that Myras/2015 auctioneer/ 2018-early-2019 Raiding draw.

Shaman has…I mean how is shaman reliably drawing 2 cards say by Turn 4 when 3 dmg might matter? It’s not like they can tutor for a lackey on 0,1,2,3 mana right?

combo-same-turn basically says “this works in a class that has draw/tutor/sustain/possibly AoE or freeze” which im not sure thrall is much better than Rexxar at that.

turn-4 Is very few draws to reliably hit 2 cards by…1 sure (barnes f/e) but 2 specifics by T4 to hold and same-turn (since last turn leftover is never reliable) is just…a loooong shot right?

This thing is definitely strong on its own.

The main struggle it has is the conditional trigger, which with current cards available, make this a little awkward to consistently use on turns 3-4.

The more lackey generators made, the better this thing gets.

Mmm, my only concern is that not every Lackey is necessarily good to play alongside Wasp.

The Witchey Lackey wants something on board already, and the Goblin Lackey would ideally like to give Rush to a minion played from hand. Makes it so you have to pick between getting the Wasp’s effect or getting the Lackey’s.

Otherwise, a Kobold Lackey into a Wasp would be an insane tempo switch.

Ok, tempo lackey shaman is totally a thing.

This card is almost bonkers level of good and its still a 3/3 for 3 if you need which is almost meta stats

Looks good but not very good. Play it together with a lackey for 4 or have a lackey survive. 3 lacky generators right now but only one of them is actually good ( slurper). shaman or neutral will need more lackey generation or more synergys ( to make running the bad generators worth it) then what we have seen thus far i think but maybe its already enough, its close i guess but 1 more of either ( synergy or generator) should make it playable for sure. I like this card.

Two separate answers here:

  1. Draw + Sustain + AoE: Is really, really good in Shaman right now overall. You can draw through Spirit of the Frog decently well (deck thinning) and Far Sight which is alright. Sustain is EXCELLENT in Shaman right now between Walking Fountain and Witch’s Brew. Finally AoE will probably be good in Shaman with Scheme and Earthquake both of which I can tutor for with Storm Chaser.

  2. As for the combo… it depends on what the options are and how much lackey synergy there is in minions we don’t know yet. Right now, in theory, Shaman could run 6 lackey cards that would pay-off by turn 4 (Sludge Slurper, EVIL Totem, EVIL Cable Rat) so if I could justify low early turns easily my only real issue is hitting Wasp on turn (Turn 4 really). For now I am not entirely sold on this concept but if you give me a few more ‘Control Lackey’ cards or some better lackey generators (doubtful) then I move this from good… but maybe not enough to great.

Its probably a bit cluncky to play. Spell lackey and summon 2 mana minion lackey you can always play but the other 2 lackeys are more conditional. What if get wrong lackey lol, then keep this card till you have good moment to play the lackey? Later in the game it will probably be easier to play but then the relative value sort of diminishes as well as you can do lots of valuable things lategame.

another insect that is a beast :see_no_evil:

Not sure how people are on the fence about whether this is good; Flanking Strike for 1 less mana and it can go face. Rogue already shows that lackeys are good on their own.

It’s got the Togwaggle requirement. One often ends up floating mana to keep a Lackey on hand for Togwaggle, but his effect is so insane it’s worth it.

Is this good enough to float? That’s the question.

I imagine this is less of an on curve card and more like the omega cards/combo cards.

It’s an okay on curve minion, but at higher mana, it is very powerful for VERY little mana and can be comboed with other plays. The strength is in how cheap it’s effectiveness is, that you can sneak 6 more mana in at turn 10 is amazing.
