Ok, thinking about this card more I’m certain it will be in nearly every deck if not all. The value is too good.
Even if you cast this on a cheap minion or a cleric it is good enough value simply because of the stats. You could also cast this and then sacrifice the minion and then heal it.
That 1 mana is going to produce minion stats and board presence.
There is some good targets for this so maybe. Priest can do 18 from hand with this and Leroy+smite to kill it lol. This is one of the few interesting cards releaved thus far.
I wonder if Shadowy Figure will make an impact thanks to this. It’s one thing to copy a deathrattle minion, it’s another to copy a deathrattle Reborn minion.
With every new Priest card revealed I think the same thing. Unlike previous sets I actually like everything I’ve seen so far. Embalming is my least favorite of the reveals, but it’s not bad and I can see it being playable. Compared to stuff like cloning device, power word: replicate, unsleeping soul or surrender to madness this is a refreshing change. But Priest needs a win condition to be viable. In Rise of Shadows Priest’s story was “die in the early to mid game because you can’t hold a board”. So far it’s story in Seekers is shaping up to be “survive early game with tempo deathrattles and then die in the late game because you don’t have a finisher”.
Everything feels like its riding on the quest, and I’m skeptical about quests in general because of their mechanics. At least running a zoo archetype ensures early game consistency, but if the quest doesn’t provide some kind of zoo finisher it’s just going to run out of gas when the board clears start happening. Without shadow visions divine fire is naturally inconsistent, and none of the neutral options so far (Mechathun, Nomi, Obelisk, High keeper Ra) are particularly appealing. So what’s zoo priest supposed to be trying to achieve? How does it close out a game? The High Priest Amet double divine spirit topsy boar combo is cute, but it’s also 9 or 10 mana and 5 cards, and it gets blocked by a single taunt so it becomes 6 or 7 cards if you need to add silences to get through a wall or two. Any more than 2 walls and it gets blocked outright. That’s not consistent enough to call it competitive without some serious jankiness.
Only for my closest two friends online at the moment. It’s for wild. I’m sure others can figure it out though. Don’t want to give away my secret just quite yet.
I’m currently working on another crazy use for it.
