New Paladin Quest: Making Mummies

Im going to try to make this godfricking work in a control/value Paladin with the Prelate-Undatakah infinite value in the lategame.
But i feel this won’t be anything above meme-tier, as was Quest Paladin of old.

At least maybe Brian Kibler will make a song out of this too

Immortal prelate (Kingsbane style)

This HP is a midrangey/control focused one.

We are not in a DK/Baku n Genn meta anymore.

This kind of HP is what Paladin kind of needs to enable more archetypes in the future.

Ah yes the future. The problem with that is that paladin needs help NOW, and the rest of the cards so far are looking bleak.

Let’s reserve judgement until the rest of the cards are revealed. And the new meta has somewhat settled.

I already see all those weird combos with deathrattles and 2/2 Thaurissans. Good one for wild meme rank 19, definitely gonna craft one

How would the new hero power work with Immortal Prelates? Say you have a Prelate that you’ve tutored with Call to Adventure, so it’s a 3/5. If you copy it with this heropower, does the copy shuffle into your deck as a 3/5 or as a 2/2?

It would shuffle as a 2/2, because it’s given an enchantment.

After all the talk about class identities Paladin gets a minion copy mechanic and not Priest. Gg, Blizzard.

Ok, so after they dropped 3 1hp minions we thought that was a hint at the quest, then they show sir Finley, now this.

Paladin cards are all over the place and none of them seem to do much to support any current decks.

This is not looking very promising

Well, minion swarms are also a Paladin theme. So it can fit somewhat in that way.

I am cautiously optimistic about this. Unless of course Reborn takes two more expansions to become a thing like Rush did. Just as long as it doesn’t enable some broken stuff involving copying powerfull Deathrattle minions… or you could probably copy something then silence the copy with a Librarian or Breaker to get extra stats?

This is honestly one of the best quest rewards shown so far.

Builds board presence that is out of range of ping hero powers.

It lets you double, triple, quadruple deathrattle/reborn/aura effects (if the minions aren’t all killed, you can keep copying them).

Reborn minions that are copied return with full attack.

You can DEFINITELY build a deck around this card. It does the whole zerek, master cloner thing better than priest could. A cairne getting copied can easily run away with the game, and there is plenty of time for several other deathrattle/reborn minions to arrive that make this hero power absurd.

Biggest targets would be prelate or mechano eggs or whelplings, undatakah. I don’t think this really works in those decks, there isn’t room

In theory though the 2/2 prelate goes into the deck with all buffs in tact.

All draw, quest, prelate, buff? Maybe works if you can land a taunt.

If you’re going to make a silly claim like this at least attempt to communicate some reasoning behind it.

I wonder how an Immortal Prelate copied with this Hero Power will work.

I expect it to be a 2/2 (but with all non-stat buffs still intact) when it’s redrawn if it wasn’t further buffed before dying, but I would not be surprised to find it not working like that.

Copying a Giant and silencing the copy would be another way to add a bit of power, but you’d have to run enough silence effects to have a chance to play that when you need it (and not having to use those silence effects on other stuff first).

As far as completing the quest goes, given the dev statements about wanting the SoU quests to be more mid-game things, I expect at least 2 Reborn Paladin minions and 4 more Neutral ones (non-Legendaries). Any less than that and there’ll be too few options for the deck to be consistently able to trigger the quest before the late game.

Well that… is exactly what I was expecting the Priest Quest & hero power to be. I don’t seem to recall “copies” being part of the Paladin class identity, and I believe it was part of the Priest class identity.

What will happen if you copy a buffed prelate. It still technically has the buffs, but also probably a 2/2 status effect as well. So will it come back to your hand as a 2/2?

Yes.
It keeps all enchantments.
Including everything the original had, but as a 2/2.

It should come back fully started, 2/2 isn’t a buff
