Not as bad as it looks if you compare to Gnomish Inventor. You give up 1 health for 2 spell Damage. In a Dragon Deck Discover a Dragon is situationally better than draw 1 because it guarantees you keep dragon in hand synergy also this can discover new Malygos. Combo it with Shooting Stars for 5 mana 3 damage to target and surrounding. This might see play despite its crappy looking stats.
I think this is very bad though I do think its a little bit better then the 4/3 elemental with 2 spell damage.
my first impression was that it was bad.
but further thinking about it⌠that +2 spellpower is always scary, especially on a mage.
this makes it a card that âreplenishesâ itself, can be comboed for some pretty high immediate effect, and requires an answer from your opponent.
so, it seems like this card generates card advantage for you, you simultaneously gain a card, and the opponent has to spend a card to remove it.
so it might see some use.
on the flipside, even knowing and having said this⌠the statline still makes me cringe.
If this was 2/4, it might see play.
2/3 is just hopeless for mage as it stands, with no immediate effect.
Keep in mind, there is no âDragon in handâ requirement for the BC. Retaining the âin handâ requirement, while also producing a threat, is/could be underrated.
Will see more play than Messenger Raven at least: 1 mana more in return for a more useful Discovery effect as well as Spell Damage +2 (the stats are practically the same after all) is worth it.
Looks like Iâm in the minority that thinks this is pretty good. Highlander dragon mage definetly wants this, maybe even just highlander mage in general since it doesnât have a dragon in hand requirement. I wouldnât overlook this just yet.
This card doesnât look amazing, but itâll see some play when people are testing Dragon Mage in the early going of the new expansion. The ability to tempo this card into a discovered Malygos (new version) on the following turn could lead to some fun shenanigans. It wonât be meta-defining by any means but could have enough potential to make the cut in some Dragon and Highlander Mage decks.
