More Mage cards revealed

If that is it this card is basically junk.

They are on the card library. They were the “leaked” cards.

I believe it’s the 2 leaked ones from before. They are on these forums somewhere but no one has officially released them.

Exactly, this feels way too expensive for an effect that you have to set up for.

And even if you do, the effect is too small. Why not make it 7/7?

Arguably it is a harder prerequisite to pull than One-Amalgam, so why is it that much weaker? Even on 5 mana i don’t know if i would put it in the deck.

Let me say though, Sif looks amazing. Vexallus on crack basically.

I think the idea is that if you have 7 of the buffs it would be really strong.

Let’s consider a poisonous rush windfury with reborn and divine shield. That kills 4 units for 7 mana.

Is that great? No. Afterall, the 10 mana poisonous rabbit back in the day was worse and 10 mana. 7 mana might feel right.

However, I’d rather it be 1 4/5 vortex for each school and each different one gets a different keyword, but that’s not how the card is worded.

IF it works that way, it should read:
Summon a 4/5 Vortex with a random bonus effect. Repeat for each additional spell school you have cast this game.

The entire Mage set looks like 28-30th filler cards.

Fine/respectable cards, but all filler tier powerlevel.

Ok, now general consensus on Reddit is that the spell will summon a single 4/5 Vortex with a single random effect and then do that multiple times so you get multiple 4/5’s on board.

That’s definitely MUCH better and likely the preferred way it should work for the mana cost.

Let’s hope that’s the way it works. The wording on this thing is terrible.

They need to reword it.

Definitely needs a reword if that is what it actually does, but it seems too big of a mistake to do.

Are we sure that it summons more than 1?

At first glance it might seem like it spawns only 1 but if you reread it, it does say that it spawns more than 1.

The wording is so deceptive though. They should have put a period after bonus effect, and follow it up with the word Repeat.

So they just changed the menagerie warrior concept into spells? I guess you’re supposed to copy elemental inspiration with that 3/2 deathrattle thing like vroon for warrior?

Looking at mage spells frost + arcane + fire seem easily box checked… Reverberations is the only shadow spell and I guess that 9 mana spell is a holy spell… So you’ll have to get the other spells randomly off discovery of magic (turning mage into jackpot rogue in the process it seems). The nature / fel / shadow / holy spell schools have some good stuff.

I guess it might be fun for people who enjoy massive RNGfests, but it otherwise seems rather underwhelming in my opinion.

For those arguing about how the 7 mana spell works, if you read it as

“Summon a 4/5 with ‘A’ random effect” for each spell school you have cast this game

It makes sense. Not the best wording, but yeah

Also the card library shows tokens with different keywords, so it would make sense to be 1 keyword for each one.

It summons different Vortex minions with each one having 1 random bonus keyword.

Considering the “a 4/5 vortex” on the card, it spawns one with a random bonus effect then repeats this for every spell school you’ve cast.

So with 3 different spell schools you get:
1 Vortex Divine Shield
1 Vortex Windfury
1 Vortex Poisonous

I’m on the team that thinks it’s one vortex for each school. It just makes a lot more sense.

As for the mage set, what a bunch of garbage. Nothing salvageable.

It’s definitely 1 vortex random effect for each school. So multiple vortexes. The cards library version just confirms this.

Discovery of Magic seems like a fun card with a viable archetype in Casino/Rainbow Mage.

Elemental Inspiration is not as inspiring. You can theoretically summon an army of 4/5s, but they vary in effect and 7 mana is expensive. If you whiff on Taunt, you could be dead. I’m not sold.

Sif is a cool payoff card for Rainbow Mage. I can already see the +7 spell damage and a randomly generated Unleash Fel shenanigans.

Molten Rune is decent damage when Forged. If it generates a random spell from any class, then let RNGesus take the wheel.

Wisdom of Norgannon is a legitimately powerful card in Casino/Rainbow Mage. There are going to be a lot of times where this is 0 mana, draw 2.

Are these cards uber-broken? Probably not. But they look fun, and I’m looking forward to playing them.
