Meta Predictions

Oh boy, I think we gonna see a lot of paladins.

My prediction is I won’t be playing very much. I wasn’t even playing Warrior, it’s not fun for me to play as, but the sheer heavy-handedness of the nerfs, the complete multi-card nuke from orbit, really left me disillusioned. Like, not even to the point where it felt worthwhile to complain about it, more to the point where you just realize someone is too far gone to be worth saving. Perhaps not beyond salvation, but certainly beyond any salvation I could even imagine myself being a part of. A complete lack of hope.

I think if they can do this to Warrior, they can do it to any class. (Any — it doesn’t matter it wasn’t Mage or Priest this time.) And I am very uncomfortable with the idea that one day, no patch notes, I could wake up and find out my deck was hit by a five card nerf. Not two or three, five.

Then I look at the forums and I don’t see outrage. I’d expect people to be furious about this patch. Heck, I expect myself to be furious, except I’m more just sad, despite myself. But there’s almost nothing. Maybe a casual comment about how it was a little harsh. That’s it. It doesn’t seem like the community is going to push back against this at all.

So yeah, -100 trust in Team 5, -20 trust in the Hearthstone community, and probably going to focus more on Path of Exile for a bit. I’ll probably be back, and I’ll probably enjoy posting on forums just as much as I used to, but I haven’t felt like logging into Hearthstone today and I don’t feel like daily quests are going to be enough incentive.

Quest hunter is going to become the next demon hunter. Warrior rogue and dh were keeping it in check. Its gonna be more of the same solitaire meta.

so far Ive been only facing DH and paladins back to back it’s getting pretty stupid lmao

at first was a few priest now it’s NOTHING but DH and Paladins

It was THE meta until now. Remember that virtually nobody plays control below D5 even if it’s the best archetype. In High Legend, the top 3 spot were occupied by three CW variants. Control meta lasted a good three months, it wasn’t ruined ā€œas alwaysā€, it had it’s turn, it’ll have another in the future.

True, same with Beast Hunter. I’ve heard some people already predicting things like Curse Warlock taking over the meta, but they seem to forget the fact that decks like Naga Priest and Beast Hunter are incredibly favored against them. Since yesterday I tried both Beast Hunter and Ramp Druid, they seem pretty strong, I have 80% WR with the former (5 games), and 100% with the latter (6 games).

Well this is a silly take. What silver hell are you in where Quest Hunter is still good?

This is simply because, as it stands, the community (I’m gonna take forum regulars here, I see this mostly in new players, or at least, newcomers to the forums) is, overall, really bad at evaluating nerfs.

For about 8 years now, 1 mana nerfs made or broke decks like nobody business. Yet, in all the posts there’s always someone that think those are meaningless.

Besides, what most people want nerfed has no definite basis on reality, at all. People think Naga Mage was in need of any nerf. People STILL think mech mage needs nerfs. It’s madness.

Madness? This is Hearthstone!

Nah.

Hearthstone is Fun.
That really not.

Theres people out there trying to pass the Naga nerf as a buff over 1 HP, there is no hope left we are done as a species.

I dont play Warrior and Paladin and this nerfs are nothing short of a travesty for me but people asked for this non stop .

Im just going to say be careful what you wish for , dont come crying to the forums when it bites you in the rear.

Really? Maybe I’m perceiving the community wrong, but, I don’t recall that many topics/posts asking to nerf warrior and paladin.

You re no paying enouth attention them the Aggro God lackeys made it quite clear right here on this forums.

Control had a target on its back for months now, all that BS about Control beeing unplayable all but forgotten .
I called out multiple people here about it , they didnt want Control playable it was just an excuse to bring down Combo.

When Control got a turn how quick they backtrack and stab it in the back.
Bunch of hypocrites.

Why were you so opposed to the nerfs to Warrior?

I think it’s more the amount of nerfs, ya know? 5 nerfs is a lot.

Warrior could clear a board, gain almost guaranteed out of lethal range health and develop a tempo win condition all in the same turn, sometimes way earlier than expected, as a control deck. It was begging for a nerf.

A nerf, maybe. It was like they wanted to make damn sure the deck would die. Lol.

I’d rather 5 small nerfs than 2-3 that kill the cards. That being said, they wrecked Nellie. Many better ways to handle that than what they did.

I’m not as steeped in the stats, but it seems to me control warrior was highly played and a power outlier against all but a few decks. Prime target for nerfs.

I can’t ever in Hearthstone history remember a single deck getting 5 cards nerfed in a single patch. Not even day 1 Demon Hunter.

That’s the issue. There was no precedent for this, and seems completely disproportionate to the power level of the Warrior decks. This wasn’t close to approaching day 1 DH.

I think it actually destroys the card vs holy Paladin, which may be pretty relevant soon. Suddenly a single City Tax basically negates the whole minion where before it was very obnoxious because they built a whole board but you really didn’t want to burn a clear combo on it.
