I really don’t understand why they are not straight banning streamers who do this. There’s no way in my mind that blizzard think this is healthy for the game. I understand that BG is still “in beta” and that it may take some time to fix.
But just say that it is cheating and from that point foward people doing it will be ban.
Publishing a leader board is NOT promoting the use of dubious tactics. Its posting a leader board.
If cheaters are on that leader board is a different topic (they shouldnt be), but dont confuse that with Blizzard promoting cheating. Its the streamers promoting it.
The very fact these “pros” are unaware of the rules of the game is more concerning to me.
So blizzard announcing who is the number one player because of his play style is not promoting? It is blizzard who is announcing this not the streamer.
No, its them posting a leader board.
They have not condoned, nor promoted, the act which directly violates their EULA by doing so.
Its the streamers who are doing that.
Until expressed authorization is given to use this method its cheating. You can attempt to defend it any way you like, but until that consent is given you will ALWAYS be wrong.
They are not banning the streamers because the only people they could enforce this with IS streamers, and if they have to make a living off of steaming high level games by not using this exploit but every lobby has non streaming players abusing it the streamers will stop playing BG entirely and play some other game.
Blizzard is looking into this — I already posted it — and this is not an easy problem to solve.
GTA V which has been around for YEARS still has a very similar exploit which allows people to get money online very quickly, and it has direct financial consequences for them to not fix it but the reason they haven’t is it’s NOT easy to figure out who is accidentally getting disconnected and who is abusing the client server relationship.
If they can’t enforce it they won’t ban people for it. It is still cheating even if they can’t catch people — that’s a logistical problem there is no controversy over whether or not this is cheating
Blizzard Warden. Google it. You think they arent monitoring your system while youre playing one of their games? They wouldnt have a consent to monitor clause in the EULA if that was the case. Warden is it. They CAN detect when the firewall hack programs are in use.
Yes but they can’t tell for all manual disconnects, that’s what I mean.
The firewall third party cheat software is an excessive exploitation of this problem and yes this one can be detected (until the creator changes it maybe), but other types can not because they look the same as a sincere disconnect
For sure, not defending it. I know the manual vs natural DC cant be sufficiently monitored. But as Kripp says in the intro, they are 20 -30 secs advantage (still not good) compared to 60+, while also having a risk factor involved.
You cant realistically catch those. You CAN catch the BIGGEST offenders, those using the firewall programs, so just do it!
Make it inconvenient for this tactic to be used, for a significantly lower advantage, and less people will use it.
