And my point is that Yip functions differently, in a different kind of deck, with different strengths and weaknesses than this card does making the comparison less than useful.
Its a great card and i think its pretty strong in general. But its not a win condition card, its a control card that helps you control the game and gain a bit of value. Thise type of decks have not been that greAt in general due to combo decks, but this could possibly fit a combo as well if mage where to get some combo cards
I understand that, but the point myself and Mand are trying to convey is that Yip isn’t the best comparison, especially not when better analogues exist within the same class in the form of Firelands Portal and, to a lesser extent, Solia. Example: Emeriss is a trash card for Hunter, but if he was a Priest card, well…
For sure. I’m not saying Kalecgos will be “insta-include, must craft day 1” or anything, far from it. All I am saying is that, due to Mages B&C sets, I would be very surprised if a list didn’t arise in which he was usable at minimum, much like Solia in Reno Mage - an optional extra, not a mandatory inclusion.
But shenanigans are so much fun, especially stupidity like Automaton!
1st let me say as a Druid player I don’t care that much for Mage, But lets look into Some cards that hardly see play in Mage that could maybe change the tide how this card is used in a Deck maybe.
And lets limit this to stander cards we know are sticking around.
Basic Set Cards that would find itself with this most likely.
Fireball
polymorph
Flamestrike
Classic Set Cards that would find itself with this most likely.
Tome of Intellect - Why pick/add this card? Discording a spell could be nice any point of the game and turning cards cheap like Luna’s pocket Galaxy? and setup for future turn stuff.
SpellBender
Blizzard
Pyroblast
Witchwood Set Cards that would find itself with this most likely.
Archmage Arugal
Book of Specters
Boomsday Set Cards that would find itself with this most likely.
Research Project
Stargazer Luna
Cosmic anomaly
Unexpected results
Luna’s pocket Galaxy
Rumble Set Cards that would find itself with this most likely.
Splitting Image
Hex Lord Malacrass
I see card that can combo into something and have seen play in more agro/tempo style decks, There could be very much a Agro Mage Deck like before that was low T1 but high T2
This card could be apart of a Meta Defining in this coming Expac or in the future, this has been the case nearly for most all Mage Legendary, I remember Old Spell Damage Mage who heavly rely on all the crap spell damage minions long ago way before Mage became big hand and etc.
don’t Discards that have 1 sided Affects, if it was cards like Duskfallen then you would be right this card bad, but till you have a open outlook at things of all the cards for this set, or have insider knowledge this you don’t have as much right to say this is Bad card and Let me Quote you, since you love changing your words.
Kalecgos is a timmy/garbage card.
This May not be a 5 star card but it still a strong 3-4 And if Someone Does craft it, good on them you don’t realize how many people spend more time and hours on Deck to get “good” before it become Net deck worthy and become Meta, and I don’t think you ever made a Netdeck that became Meta, so Most people are going take you as a Grain of Salt. But I can safely say This isn’t a Garbage card, this card will find a Meta and be apart of it at some point and won’t be a wasted craft if lure in, as it might pop up once awhile.
I don’t see it being used for OTK considering you can Alex and then double Fireball into Frostbolt. But, if you want to go that route you can put a Luna’s Pocket Galaxy and Maly into the deck with Pyro and double Frostbolt and play it all on the same turn lol.
A longer worded post and you’re still wrong. There’s a hell of a lot of space between bad and 5 stars, and you cannot make assumptions. You’re almost trying to argue Ysera would be bad too, which, it quite obviously is a great value card. This is just Mage Ysera, basically. The card itself is still very heavy on value and is a good standalone card.
In my opinion he is actually a quite strong card if you can play him. His battle cry effect + his passive is like a super primordial glyph. Then he leaves a 4/12 body and, if he survives, can continue to make one of your spells free each turn, which could end up giving you quite a bit of tempo.
The only issue for me is whether mages can reliably live long enough and in a good enough game state to gain good value from him. If not, it doesn’t matter whether he is a powerful card or not because he will never get the chance to shine.
You’re playing control.
It’s t10 and you need to AoE.
You have an AoE and Kal in hand.
Would you prefer to play that flamestrike /blastwave and something other with the remaining 3 or 5 mana?
Or would you prefer to play a 4/12 discover a spell, that must be removed immediately, for the same 3 or 5 mana.
For me the answer is obvious:
If control mage exists in the new meta, Kal will be autoinclude in the deck because it’s a card that you would always want to play alongside a board clear.
I’d be an idiot if I pulled this off of my own Dirty Rat. This has an effect that’s essentially an auto lose if it finds it’s way onto the board early in the game (Alarm-O-Bot, opponent’s Dirty Rat).
Reno Mage says hi. It wants to let you know how much it appreciates being crapped on by freecasting a 10 mana Kazakus potion and wiping your board.
ONLY THE BATTLECRY IS RNG. So hard to see how you ignore this. Basically, the way this works, I can pull whatever spell Kalecgos discovers, then for the hell of it, I’ll play the Flamestrike that’s been sitting in my hand for at least three turns and wiping the board. Or any old spell, for that matter. Which is what makes this card so dangerous. This is a terrible card to pull off of Dirty Rat, because you are absolutely screwed if you don’t have an immediate follow-up, because they WILL have immediate value that next turn.
This is a card that I like, a card you MUST answer immediately, and gets immediate value when you play it. Hell, imagine how nasty this will be when paired with Luna’s Pocket Galaxy while it is still in your deck.
Then again, you may be one of those who said that Frost Lich Jaina was a terrible card, and it’s one of the strongest cards in the game.
