While I agree that more slots is desirable and probably needs to happen, it is not reasonable to pretend that such an addition is trivially easy. There are potentially millions of players - each with “X” number of decks to store. Each of those has to have server space dedicated to the storage. Even simply giving people 18 more decks would double however much server/storage space Blizzard currently allocates to the task. I don’t pretend to have any inside knowledge about that, but I expect it’s something someone would have to make a “business case” for, and as such pushing that kind of thing through the system wouldn’t be as simple as just waving a hand.

If your concept of fun is winning a lot and not losing more than the half of your games, that is it. But if playing meme tier 4 decks is a must, 100 deck slots won’t be enough. We will always have people complaining about the need of more slots if we see the situation this way.

I guess that depends on the player. Kibler and many others take all kinds of stuff to legend. There times when APXVoid literally has all 18 slots filled with different versions of Mage decks and he plays around the top of legend.

Just because some players subscribe to the mentality of “Only the exact tier 1 or 2 decks on HSR will actually net me a positive winrate” doesn’t actually make it the case.

I can make a case against more deckslots well enough, but players having no practical use for them is most definitely not it.

you can save them and then just rebuild them later

You only need two deck slots. One for Evolve Shaman and one for N’Zoth.

I don’t really buy that:

  • We’ve seen that code for a deck can be summarised in a few dozen lines of text (and that’s assuming there is no further code optimisation server side for deck storage)
  • For sake of argument, let’s double that amount given that golden/nongolden cards need to be taken into account (though I suspect it would be much more simple)
  • A text file with souch a double-length deck description is 1.45 kb.
  • Let’s be generous and say that adding new slots would require 4 MB of extra space per player. That still adds up to 4 TB per million players.
  • You can get a 4 TB hard drive for a few hundred.
  • Even just the pay for the coders adding in the “more deck slots” option would be a greater expense than that IMO

(Of course, I may just be missing something)

Those players you mentioned are pro players, they are way above average and play in a very efficient way. The average player most likely won’t have the same win rate that the pro players have playing with these tier 4 meme decks.
