It’s not really a question of that. I don’t think either is trying to put the other under. The question is about the size of the market itself. LoR is trying to break into a pretty saturated market right now. If LoR fails to thrive it might simply have to do with the fact that people who like CCGs are already spending their resources on Hearthstone, Magic or both and don’t have the time or cash to start building up a LoR interest.
Basically this…
Aside from that though i wont say no to the changes being implemented cause they re good.
Still if the question is ‘‘Did blizzard changed their policy cause of LoR ?’’, my answer would be yes. They knew that LoR was about to be released in 2020 and therefore they kept the best changes for that time.
That said i think i m gonna stick with LoR as my main game here while playing Hs here and then.
Blizzard always treats consumers as cashgrab oportunity and when ‘‘something’’ happens (lower playerbase, new competitor - you call it), it tries to tingle our @@ with new stuff. Otherwise we have the same old story.
At least Riot has a certain more secure agenda. Simply put, you know what you re dealing with despite the circumstances
I plowed a decent amount of cash into Elder Scrolls Legends under that same line of thinking. Big company, deep pockets, very well known and beloved universe in which the game takes place. Last year they shut the game down.
Yes, but people seem to always want to make it a competition. ‘Oh lordy how fast will LoR overtake hearthstone?!’ ‘Hearthstone is better, don’t play this crappy runeterra game’. I don’t think LoR will overtake Hearthstone one bit, but I don’t think LoR will have a short lifetime either, in fact, I think it will last a good amount of years.
Edit: By a good amount of years, I mean it’ll have a long lifetime similar to HS.
Which was an inexcusable move from Bethesda, and the reason why im not planning on supporting them anymore.
I mean its not like the game didnt make them money at all. Smaller games with great f2p experience like eternal seem to survive well enough with a lot of new regular content being released now and then.
This was always going to happen though… The only reason they wouldn’t have monetized it is if it wasn’t popular.
I find it hilarious to see people say stuff when I come from the LoL forums and everyone talks crap about Riot 24/7 there. It really is a case of the grass being greener on the other side.
im pretty sure ive seen this rank system in mobile games long before LoR
Still i speak with facts:
- LoL is probably the most played multiplayer game in the world and its a 10 years old game.
- You can have every champion for free (for ex a friend of mine has all the champions and a couple of thousands shards)
- You can have a lot of free skins
- Its a 100% skill game. People complain about balance a lot but unless you re diamond or something if you re good enough you re gonna carry games with any hero
- Lots of updates and new stuff
So yes people complain but that doesnt mean they always say things that make sense…
100% skill game? Balance? Why have that when Qiyana exists?
Runeterra is boring, no way it will beat out anything.
I think they made the battle pass so they could tack it onto pre orders and say it “adds” value
I hate the LoL community and their substandard memes.
But everything you said is pretty damn spot on.
they added the 4 arena tickets to increase the value
along with
he golden legendary
the skin
the increase to 90 cards
and the duplicate protection
they have already been giving the golden legendary and skin, so those dont count.
And if you brought any of this up to players of the game then they’d say you’re the crazy one. It’s all the good is forgotten after years of playing a game and only the bad is thought of.
