Yeah he’s probably an old person like me. I always enjoyed math and probability in school along with playing cards. My aunt used to be a dealer in Atlantic City for a long time and showed me all the tricks while we played cards for hours. CCG just turned into a natural extension of what i liked. Once i made some contacts through various channels while played at Neutral Ground i was off to the races.

I liked most CCG’s but my most cherished CCG will always be Legend of the Five Rings. A great game design with a tournament circuit built around something else besides winning money.

I thought I knew a fair amount about gaming until this conversation, lol.
I even played Oregon Trail back in the day, as well as Scorched Earth:)

Given the popularity of Tolkien, I have to think that if they made a digital version of that CCG they’d make a fortune. There’s not many IPs with that kind of lasting cultural impact.
Still kicking myself for selling all my MERP stuff back in the day. I had just about everything from that line, even had the paperbacks that could be used as a standalone choose-your-own adventure or be used as a MERP module.

If they did a digital LoTR CCG. It would most likely be based off the one they made during the first movie runs. the old ICE MECCG still has a faithful following online and groups still meet up for tournaments.
