It’s basically 3 classes in one that’s why. Hard to not find something playable in it’s card selection.
DH was still a top deck up till when the SW Quests rotated out. After those went DH really dropped in power. Mostly because they got away from what made DH strong and explored other ideas that didn’t pan out.
It’s a class for noobs and tryhards who want to be sure they always play the correct line, since it’s basically a curvestone class
But it definitely has weaknesses. Since the threads of despair nerf, it’s weak to any hyper-aggro, and normally it’s weak in early to mid-game value.
DK-s cards are all about gaining and using the tempo advantage to keep pushing (or removing) threats as well as poke your face at the same time. You fight against that by pressing once, hard, and not letting go until he’s dead.
P.S. Not saying the class is easy to play. For me it isn’t.
Ok, so here’s how I believe the meta is right now if this was the settled meta
-Zerg DK is out of control and really busted. Infestor nerf to +1 attack only seems like the nerf that’s likely coming
-Weapon Rogue is like Tier 1 pushing into Tier S. It farms Zerg DK really hard, so that’s why it has mega success…but it’s also choking out a lot of the meta. If you aren’t playing with taunts and more taunts, you’re likely getting farmed by Weapon Rogue
-Weapon Rogue is farming Zerg DK so much so that there is now a Zerg DK list specifically running Viper because the matchup is so 1-sided
-Terran Shaman can’t be overlooked either. It might struggle vs DK Zerg or even Weapon Rogue, but it’s beating many of the other meta decks. So if you nerf Weapon Rogue and DK Zerg, Terran Shaman very likely becomes a monstrosity
-Protoss builds and other Terran builds seem like they have life, but they need room to breathe and that’s just not possible right now with DK Zerg
-You can tell Protoss and Terran builds would be pretty decent because they are doing well against some of the meta decks of last week
-Find a deck that farms Weapon Rogue and Zerg DK, and you have the best deck in the meta. Enter Dungar Druid. Right now, Dungar Druid is #1 because it is doing this while also farming many of the other meta decks of last week
I think it is more less the ceiling of the deck. Atleast i’m came with a perfect match of that deck too.
It probably has a card or two to change but we are already using the only package that isn’t a trash bin on the class nowadays.(elementals don’t work very high).
So unless we are somehow missing an aggro variant that relies more on the charge minions for protoss mage this is probably the best version of the deck.
I did a Protoss Mage deck as well and just went back to the Excavate package. I was amazed out how long i could stall players and fight for the board with that package. I do feel like Dryscale is probably a card that just belongs in every Protoss deck for the extra spell generation.
Someone, or few someone’s in top 10k made the exact same copy of weapon rogue I did (it’s only 1 card difference from the original, so it would be weird if noone did) and tainted my winrate, but it’s STILL the highest winrate version with 67,5% in 212 games.
Of those, 52 were mine, going 43-9
It’s safe to say we got another Rogue deck biting the dust soon
I tried a Pally deck and it’s okay but it isn’t flexible enough to handle most decks and it cannot hope to compete with Zergs scaling. This might turn out to be Paladins worst meta in a while. Shaman has better tools to deal with various boards.
Edit: This is probably the best card Paladin can be playing right now while bouncing Starship launches.
When I got into 2.9k, I started facing highrollers who always knenw how to play against me
They were killing off their own deathrattle minions to get buffs, culminating in a Yelling Yodeler into that buffing deathrattle guy for a full board x2 dmg buff
Insane
It’s not AS easy as it’s been so far, I believe, but it should still be a counter, probably because the older decks require a bit of fine tuning (this, dungar druid, possibly more)
Luckily, Yodeler and Deathgrowl (unlucky for me for my starship dk deck though) rotate out come expansion. But, the zerg aggro is likely to remain an issue.
It will exist but those two cards are massive enablers. Probably should have been a BC effect but they wanted it to be DR so more DR cards would be used instead of the standard BC cards being spammed.
Another issue I have with the new expansions is that it’s basically the same old strategies for other decks, just better. So paladin doesn’t stand a chance, most undead cards are now useless, pirate charge is gone because of zerg, and protoss replaces druid.
I don’t even use Yodeler in my Zerg DK list (and the list I have is the top deck for zerg dk). It does run Deathgrowl, but even without Deathgrowl, you have to deal with the buccanneer infestor viper combo and its disgusting.
So the Zerg DK deck will be nearly as powerful as it is now come expansion and rotation if they don’t nerf infestor to +1 attack only.
Starship are finally fun do play it’s a BIG yes! small minions with launch effect, that’s how starship should work from the begging. 100% happy with it
Zerg strategy is pretty dumb. is a race to play as fast has you can because you scale hard with +1/+1. and you do that while developing the board early.
Protos are fine… but I dislike colossus play style, its another dumb gameplay. play as much proto spells you can and swip the board. but is easy to counter and can run out of gas if you play without thinking.
