Deathrattle demon hunter currently have immense tempo gain thanks to devouring adventurer being a premium 3 drop for Razorboar and Razorfen beastmaster. You can’t clear the minions, they just keep spawning from hand. By the time you finally get the board back, if you ever manage to do so, DH has access to inquisitor , the best finisher in the game, and N’zoth for more pressure and face dmg. Add to that the typical draw of demon hunter, and it’s easy to understand why the deck is so good right now.
The problem with Face Hunter compared to paladin is that unlike with paladin, there is no singular Hunter card to nerf that would allow it to be still playable and not just terrible. With Paladin, FDoS was a problem card since it could easily generate value at no cost to them and HoA could buff and draw easily, which Paladin isn’t supposed to do. Now tell me, what card(s) could be nerfed to make Face Hunter normal? If you nerf too much it’ll just make it underpowered, but it’s not the cards themselves that are the problem most of the time; it’s the pressure they put on early. The hero power is a big problem, but it’s already an underpowered hero power; so my question remains, what do you think could be safely nerfed?
The 2 mana 5/4 for a start, possibly Adorable Infestation
Huh?
1st day?
Are you saying that it hasn’t had any love in the past century? Or, that, since recently it has taken a hit and in the near future you’d like some love?
The 5/4 that’s dormant for 2 turns, then attacks randomly? You can literally just stop it and/or dilute it by going wide. Adorable infestation could be nerfed, but that also nerfs token Druid, which is currently doing okay in the meta and doesn’t deserve a nerf. Also, how would you nerf these cards even if you could?
Either knock off an attack or some health off of the Felclaw, Adorable I dunno, maybe make it two mana.
Although a better card to get nerfed then Adorable would probably be the Trampling Rhino, AKA the minion that punishes you for trying to play taunts against Hunter
These cards are not really overpowered and only good because they work together.
Paladin is Tier 2, which is playable.
As someone else said, the cards are only good in combination with each other. Adorable Infestation wouldn’t be as good if Trampling Rhino and other minions didn’t exist and the dormant minion wouldn’t be as good if it didn’t have a face hunter archetype. If Blizz actually printed decent beast stuff it would be a lot better since they would be used, but for now it’s the same as many decks: there really aren’t alternatives, so you can’t affect it much.
And to that I say, killing Paladin is the lesser of two evils compared to another two months of them dominating. Comparing Paladin pre patch to Hunter now is extremely silly. For one Hunter has several bad matchups comapred top Paladin losing to…what…Secret Rogue which no-one plays and Control Warlock which no1 plays and is garbage? The meta is better now. Paladin still has a strong core of cards and likely has more coming up. Its embarassing for Paladin mains to complain considering they were given 4 expansions in a row full of broken crap. Think how Warlock mains feel? They are barely ever relevant in standard post year of the raven. And yet do they whine? I’ve never seen them do that once. Even during the hilarious quest to get Tickatus nerfed. My message to everyone? Be like Warlock mains. Or better yet, play different classes, then you wont take nerfs so personally.
Perhaps yeah. But after two botched attempts at balancing them, can you blame them for being overcautious? They were getting a lot of heat on reddit and such for Paladin being busted.
And they have the option to readjust, but if they do and Paladin go back to tier S how silly do they look? Either way, nerfs to other classes would suck hard right at this very minute.
It was top tier ALOT longer than it should have been so good riddance to pally for now
A card that is dormant for 2 turns so gives you plenty of time to deal with it by turn 4.
That’s not even remotely broken tbh
You do understand why FDOS was changed from 0 to 1 mana right? It was broken and that was before its buff to 3 minions making it even more broken
Devs seemed to think otherwise and in fact considering now it’s been nerfed properly and pallys are hardly seen on ladder its clear that it was big part of the problem
We have two classes in S rank, 1 decent and everyone else below 50%.
How the hell is this a good thing? Do you just like it when Hunter and Shaman are the ones on top?
And once again, yet another list for the “that’s only a problem when Paladin does it” crowd.
Look beyond pure win rates and look at actual matchup spreads in the vs report and you’ll know what I mean. The win rates are always skewed in favour of Hunter Post patch because of people’s weird deck choices. This is what I mean about nuance.
I barely play Hunter or Shaman.
This crowd only exists in your head. It’s Mage and Priest we have the pitchforks out for
People just need literally any humility. If you play any of these decks it is plain as day what their flaws are and how you end up not winning a fair amount of the time.
It’s also heavily dependent on what your personal skill set is. Hunter has been Good A + + all this expansion but when I play it I’m garbage at what it’s trying to do.
