Idea: prohibit Standard in Wild

When I 1st started this game years ago, I thought that that was what wild was.

I thought it was everything prior to standard, NOT INCLUDING standard.

A “enter at your own risk” mode of the game. Where old packs go to die.

When I found out wild included standard I thought it was the dumbest thing ever.

They should be mutually exclusive.

I think I agree with others that waiting for cards to rotate will stagnate the format.

But I think there might be merit in only allowing the same # of expansions as Standard allows.
You would get your choice of those.

Then perhaps another format that allows anything.
That is what i proposed to my friend instead of his original idea anyway.

Idea :Prohibit Wild playing posters from Standard forums.

I was playing in Standard when it was created. I’m allowed.

NEW MODE sure
REPLACING WILD, Hell no.
Wild is important for being a format where can use evry single card, all cards/sets are aviable thats the point of wild.

I’m down with a new mode. Like I said: maybe a format that lets you use only the same amount of expansions as Standard? (your choice of any)

Want prohibit?

Easy solution FOR YOU!

PLAY STANDARD OR CLASSIC

My personal experience is that when I see a new set, I immediately start thinking about what I can do in wild with those cards. Standard is a cess pool that I try to avoid. I’d rather not buy packs, then have to wait years to use them in wild.
If anything, I would be open to the idea of rotating cards, or sets, similar to what is being practiced in the duels mode.

I’m ok with this idea, but I’m not sure how it works.
I don’t play Duels.
I still like my rebuttal idea.
Allow a format where players choose the same amount of expansions that are allowed in Standard (6) of the players choice.

they dont balance wild at all so how would it be a balance nightmare? lol

Just read the original post and understand context.

i did and it change NOTHING to what i said.

Whenever I want to play a somehow balanced wild game, I go in casual.
Keep in mind I use a deck that is probably strong, but not meta (it’s not random garbage for a meme deck, it’s usually highlander with more than 10 legendaries).

I used to see other good decks as well, but definitely not the ladder ones (if one sneaks in, it’s not a big problem anyways, i like the occasional encounter).

Maybe you want that?
People above me are correct in saying wild would become stale, but also not balanced (imagine if in 6 months they release to wild the questlines, they would need to nerf them like they already did)

I cannot believe I am still repeating myself as it explains in the first sentence, but this? is not my idea.
I just wondered what others who have more game mechanic experience thought of it.
My idea was to make Wild only able to use 6 expansions (of your choice, ) just like Standard, and then have another format where everything is used.

it doesnt matter if it is your idea or not, you made the post, not them, you brought forth this idea to us, not them

you have made this idea known, and that is 100% your fault

Yes. Proposing the idea here was my mistake.
The notion that anything could be discussed here other than: “Theo and Denath are just fine, but nerf mage again.” is laughable.

You made an interesting thread by proposing this idea, even if not yours.

It doesn’t change the fact that I don’t like it, nothing personal though

I didn’t think it was sound either, but interesting.
Again: I like the idea of making Wild only six expansions of your choice better.

How would that work. My favourite expansion was probably the original quest mage, where pinging for a hk summoned a water elemental. But many players would not have enough cards to make much of a deck.

if my choice was that expansion, and his choice was the current wild quest mage where they endlessly loop their turn. I would just lose because of power creep.

ok, so you mean Frost Lich Jaina, right?
