This. Secret Mage IS the best deck in wild and basically busted OP. Of course you are going to climb fast.
I have done the same with odd Paladin from 20-5 in a couple of hours.

A Murloc Shaman, Odd Paladin, Mech Hunter, two Snip Snap Warlocks, and a Burgle Rogue later, that was a nice string. The opponent’s Oracles into Sap on the Void Lord, accidentally killing it, into a Zephrys Bloodlust was quite the cherry on top. Highlight still had to be the Snip Snap Lock who went face to face with the 10 cost Kazakus Potion, proving once again that, much like in Catan, it’s all about the sheep.
…Never did run into a Secret Mage on that streak, did we?

That Priest was Probably Big Priest and you are playing its counter Face Mage. The reason it was easy grind to 7 is because Big Priest chases out decks that can give Secret Face Mage a harder time.
Pretty much what I do in Wild is get to Rank 5 and then my mind shuts off. Why? Cause I made the grind to legend already and could theoretically do it again with a T1 deck like Secret Mage.
But instead I enjoy the fact that there’s the floor and can get to 5 next month fairly easily. Then I start goofing off with my other decks. When Rank Month ends, I get a free golden epic to save up for the next big thing. I can play what I want when I want. I’m having FUN
