I have the guy on friend’s list and I promised to help him tomorrow
I didnt even realize I will then proceed to hit rank 77 on NA xD

My current hypothesis is that the worse you are in terms of skill, the more fun you have. I mean, if you go against opponents who are significantly above your skill level, that can create the effect without you having to hold back. That would be ideal, but is difficult to achieve. A much easier way is to get to opponents at your level and then deliberately handicap yourself, or to opponents significantly below your level and seriously handicap yourself, etc.
It’s a game, and we will all have more fun if we treat it like a game.
To me, fun lies in moving the goalposts.
When you hit legend for the first time, set yourself a goal to hit mid-legend next month.
When you do that, move the goalpost a bit closer and closer…ofc that’s assuming you have the time and competitive spirit.
If not, it’s better to realize that in time and play for memes.
Giving up in spite of competitive spirit is just loser’s mentality.
People and bad luck streaks on EU made me feel inferior and hardstuck, and now I stunned myself by hitting rank 50 on NA. This is a card game, after all…how much more skill can anyone have over you?
This is 100% correct for everyone, competitive or not.
I thought I was playing bots so I was casually chatting with friends and posting on the forum while beating high legends. Wasn’t even thinking, I played entirely by the feeling.
It looks like the winning recipe.
As a terrible player who has been playing 5+ years and not ONCE hit legend, I can confirm sucking, embracing it and not taking the game seriously, is the optimal way to play. Once I said “I’m never hitting legend” and just played what I felt like results be damned I enjoyed the game a lot more. HS has always been, even from day one, a casual simplified CCG with a more than usual RNG bias. Taking it seriously is entirely missing the point and imo against the spirit of the game. If you want a hardcore TCG experience, may I recommend one I also played for a decade, MTG. That’s a game more worth taking seriously though it is fun when you go casual with it too.
Tell that to people who earned hundreds of thousands of euros playing it
Are any of the people here one of those players? Nope? Point? Unless you’re getting paid treating it like a super serious job is stupid imo. It is indeed just a game for 99% of players.
If anyone has a powerful deck with a great win rate, post it here if possible and I will test it.
Well, you know mine xD
77% winrate in 145 games, peak legend 48 ![]()
What you do now is up to you
Are you paid to play? If so sure take it seriously. But I already said it makes sense for pro players take a game seriously. It is literally their job. Short of that, you’re playing the most casual simplistic major CCG on the market, again with heavy rng. If you’re not a Pro, as in getting paid, or trying to become one, taking it seriously is just silly to me. This isn’t Dark Souls. It’s Super Smash Brothers at best lol.
You know, noone was born a pro. They had to actually take a risk and commit before they became a pro.
I don’t know what to tell you
Btw, unlike dark souls, super smash bros is a competitive, eSports game which actually pays money xD
You got this whole thing upside-down m8
Bruh, I said “or trying to become one”. But the idea a game again like HS caters to the most hardcore serious type minded players and most going in are expecting to be the very best like no one ever was, is absurd. You can take ANYTHING seriously and possibly make money off of it. Doesn’t mean everything can and should be taken seriously. Frankly when Yogg was released anyone should have realized right then what type of game this truly was lol. I mean even day one you had games determined by coin flips like Ragnoros or Sylvanus, but Yogg was just comical lol.
You’re absolutely right, not everyone is or should tend to be a pro. Just sayin’, don’t rain on other people’s parades
There are multiple sources of fun in a game. There’s entertainment, education, immersion, escapism…
Some people have fun by meme-ing, some people have fun by winning. It’s as simple as that.
I’m not saying you’re “wrong” to take it seriously. Games mean different things to different people. But HS has a spirit, and to me it isn’t one that the hardcore serious business crowd gels with lol. That’s why you guys are angry all the time. XD
I think you know the answer to your problem but you want someone else to say it. Asking the devs to un-curse you means changing the systems programming.
The answer to your problem is simple,
That he finally did xD
Last I saw him, he netdecked a Pally and went 3-1 with it
