Discover will no longer favor class cards

4 times bigger chance ??
I thought it was a 50% bonus,100% tops. I vaguely rember seeing that in some official statement.
Did they up it to 4 times a while ago the or am i mistaken?

this change will kill the discover mechanic.
It cant go for all,like discover spell has to be classcard, i wonder if zephrys is affected.

Anyway:they change to much in this game,fiddle around to much. There is little consistency.
Same for arena with all the “micro” adjustments they make all the time without even announcing.
They have lost me a while ago in that regard.

Only negative is that now the game will be even more random.

Can’t wait to see the rage threads when Druid discovers a twisting nether.

This change isn’t allowing cross class discovery, just removing the appearance bonus of your class cards from your discovery.

Right now,and for this whole expansion. This is just a nerf to warrior,its weird that they suddenly change their philosophy after such a long time with discover mechanic.
The boom nerf didnt do enough so something else had to be done. Its lame because discover was kinda fun mechanic.

The more i think about it the more angry i am,i guess the 100% dust for boom has just run out as well?

I think it used to be 400% and they knocked it down to 300% a couple years ago. (Or maybe the other way around). Anyway, there was much discussion over how much the “Class Favor” should be. It definitely wasn’t a secret.

Now, that’s not to say there aren’t secret riggings going on under the hood. I’ve always believed that when packs are bought and a legendary drops, there’s an internal bonus given so that new shiny leggo gets drawn a little more frequently for the next series of matches just to help reinforce that sense of satisfaction of that purchase being worthwhile (and thus encouraging more purchases).

Both negative and positive experiences can encourage purchases. Still losing after pulling or crafting Reno might make you want to get siamat through packs or crafting.

As such, no rigging is needed when an unrigged version will produce both situations naturally.

The rules of black jack favor the house; the casino doesn’t have to rig the game nefariously.

This is actually a very big change (and a welcome one).

It’s been 400% chance ever since it was announced in Un’Goro, I’ve never seen any patch notes that modified this.

Zephrys is programmed to go off of his deciding factors, not the normal class-biased randomness algorithm. He’ll be unaffected.

Unless specificed, Spell discovery is still tied to the user’s class. Normalizing the class bias doesn’t suddenly lift that restriction.

Good change. I was getting sick of warriors playing 4 2/2 discovered taunts in a row then getting discovered armadillo after all that. AT least that will become ultra rare.

Rightfully so, with the games in the Grandmasters where Warrior was supposed to lose but won because of crazy discovers of mechs and taunts, at some point it they had to do something… Omega devastator being played 4+ times per game on average.

it’s a good change, the higher variance means unfair swing cards can’t be generated through discover

this has been a problem in arena for far too long; people would choose certain discover cards because they would have a high probability of giving high rating cards - stonehill was a good example for paladin.

Yeah this is actually a pretty big deal, makes discover less predictable and in many cases less powerful.

I wonder what made them change this? Control Warrior has a strong discover pool but it doesn’t feel like it needs a nerf right now, and there have been other metas with more busted discover cards, maybe the new expansion has some strong class discover cards that would just be too good with the current system?

I think it lets them keep discover as a recurring mechanic and they can differentiate the strength whenever they want by printing say

MESSENGER RAVEN
SPELL DISCOVERS

Good change. Needed to happen. Discover is powerful enough since you can pick what works best already. The class mod has been insane for ages.

there arent any neutral spells so this change only affects stuff like "discover a mech "
“discover a taunt”
"discover a x mana card "

Yes I know.

What I’m saying is discover can now be toned down but, if blizzard wants to have a card with stronger discover, they have the existing modifiers to do so to make it more selective.

I don’t like this change. I do like lowering the power level though. I’m conflicted

In the end I don’t like this change. I liked how discover cards feel different for each class.
