If you can’t get to diamond with a meta deck then yes you might be bad lol. I managed to get diamond 5 last season and i hadn’t played since 2015 with gala secret rogue.
Maybe try a gala secret rogue, highlander hunter or quest lock instead of mage.
I thought its not that luck driven but when I was able to reach legend last month playing only highlander quest shaman with close to 80% winrate just because I was able to completely avoid any decks that could counter me. And I mean it, I had minimum of bad matchups throughout the climb.
Though I had solid start bonus to carry me.
I was facing mostly DHs and Rogues for some reason and usually they werent even able to highroll the draw to snowball out of control.
I have never thought how insanely significant is matchup luck in success on a ladder.
How is your matchups luck? Do you face a lot of bad matchups? How is your luck on draw compared to you opponents?
Checking your games for misplay is a good way how to improve though it isnt that significant if you are gonna play bad matchups or even counters.
Yeah. I have never experienced this before. To be honest it felt like I have highrolled every single aspect of the game. Now I understand how you can get to legend as f2p Just highroll your way there
with all those misplays i dont suggest you playing reno mage.
why do you kept arcane misteries against priest?!
why didnt you do value trades?
why did youn play kartut on 6 instead of simply ping?
and so many more misplays
it seems that you dont know your role on that game, your going for sneaky lethal when managing your resources because you usually cant outvalue the priest.anyway.
better switch to simple aggro deck.
your just wasting your life playing 8 hr only to reach diamonds.
Highlander mage is not the best deck to climb with in my opinion. Getting into D10 with it though should be no problem. It might become a lot stronger this next expansion though, devolving missiles is a rly strong card, same for onyx magescribe and mage legendaries also tend to be very strong.
I think highlander priest is more solid than highlander mage if you prefer a control type of deck.
@haargroth highlander quest shaman I think is a rly strong deck not just luck with your matchups. One thing shaman always lacked was reliable card draw or card generation because the class cards offer pretty good value. Quest helps with that. I’m mostly talking from my perspective facing the deck and not actually playing it because all these highlander decks are not cheap.
Don’t play Mage if you want to improve at the fundamentals. So many of your wins/losses will be totally undeserved due to rng so it’s really bad for gauging whether you are making the right plays or not. I would play Hunter in this current meta, as its a straight forward playstyle that generally rewards the correct decisions.
I agree with Bee, HL Hunter is aggro, with the exception that it performs well in the late game. Cards like Brann favour such a playstyle or Nagram Slam.
From HS wiki:
Aggro decks emphasise face damage over board control, often ignoring the opponent’s minions entirely.
Some HL Hunter even play King Crush instead of DQA now.
Hl Hunter and Murloc Paladin are easier to play than Tempo DH. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I would argue that’s even good for the op.
Demon Hunters also aggro but that’s another deck that has been dismissed as ‘brainless’. Just feel like many people dislike the playstyle so they dismiss is as a way of protecting their own ego when they lose to it. That of course could be my own bias talking but it’s a feeling I get when reading these forums.
Yeah I agree murloc pally and hl hunter are good choices for players trying to learn the basics, just don’t think it means that they are without nuance.
I think people were mad at Tempo DH because it had so good winrates.
Atm Highlander Hunter is the best archetype. Some cards are broken like Rotnest Drake.
You’re assuming you’re supposed to be diamond to begin with, perhaps you’re already in the right skill bracket, ranked isnt just a ladder you keep climbing, it serves as a system to seperate people into different skill brackets, so no you’re not bad per say, just average.
