Can we finally get the option to disable golden heroes?

Although I agree they should give us that option, Arena’s a bit different.

Cards were always optional.

I want to play with non-golden 1k portraits for the luls.

Or just play with regular non-golden portraits with the classic card back to look like a total newb. Especially in arena with disabling gold cards from deck.

Someone doesn’t want to get caught smurfing the lower Silver ranks when they’ve been playing long enough to have a golden portrait…

Imagine having a Golden Hero and your cards are trash and you play like a noob, kind of embarrasing if you ask me

Thanks for thinking I’m actually that good at the game and congratulations for guessing correctly where I’m generally at in Ranked. But no, it’s not smurfing if I get the definition right (higher skilled player farming lower ranks to get easy wins). Besides, wouldn’t that be a problem of the matchmaking system then? Just like the legend card back the golden Hero just means you put a lot of time/effort into the game. It doesn’t say anything about how good you’re at the game.

I generally tend to play “clown fiesta fun decks”. I just don’t like the way you have to play to be better (those so-called “meta decks”) on one hand and on the other it’s ture: I’m simply not that good because I play it rather casually. So what? Are you also here just to troll? I guess so. Cool…

Just play casual dude, no one gives a damn if you are gold and play clown decks

Yeah, I don’t care as well. I wasn’t complaining about being crushed by tryhards in Ranked. I’m where I belong with whatever play style I like. You’re making something a problem where there is none.

The reason I don’t play Casual is because I would constantly face people with boring basic decks, people that concede before the game even starts, and in general a lot of people that just use that mode to farm gold with fast decks and I don’t like fast games. Even with all that “tryharding” going on in Ranked in Silver where I’m at it’s better than in Casual for me. And now if I don’t want golden heroes being forced down my throat I can’t play Ranked anymore. It’s very frustrating.

Some players will auto concede at beginning of the match, I have been playing for about 4 years and it’s only a matter of time that I’ll have a golden Hero and be between bronze or silver ranks. :grinning:

The problem with hiding Golden Heroes: People are already upset that they can see their opponent has at minimum, won 500 matches and has significantly more experience because of it. This is compounded by hidden ranks below Legend.

We already have an issue of… I think the term is smurfing? High level players playing at low ranks, making it a miserable time for everyone trying to learn the game. Hiding the earned portrait could be considered a similar problem, in my view at least.

Be proud of what you’ve earned. You’ve EARNED IT! If I won the ugliest sweater in the world because I worked long and hard for it, you’d be damn sure I’d wear it! lol

Lets make a simulation bro.
We match together on ranked mode.
I have 123 wins, you have 1000+ wins.
I play another game, someone with less than 500, same class and deck as you.
You think im gonna play differently because of golden frame ?
So, It doesnt matter bro

And what exactly is so problematic here? If it’s about the information that can give other people (that guy has won at least 500 wins in Ranked or Arena) I wouldn’t mind it being somehow publically visible. But do I really need to use golden Heroes to show that off?

That’s of course a problem maybe. But also quite a different one in my opinion. The problem here is more about matchmaking. If I have to be honest I don’t know what exactly you could even do about it. People can always just concede games to get a low MMR and that way “smurf” people if they want that. Are new players are conceding against people with golden heroes because they don’t want to play against such experienced players? So yes, I can see that then I wouldn’t give them that information anymore if I choose the normal version. But is that even relevant? What if someone played a lot of Casual? I have something like 13,000 wins in total. Where is that information given to the opponent? Even now I have only one less win than 500. That’s almost the same as 500. I don’t really see how something like that “the golden hero shows you’re more exprienced” is so important to not give people the option to not use it if they don’t like it.

I guess there are people like you. But to me… that attitude rather “disguts” me. So… no. No, thank you very much.

you don’t have 500 wins on all classes? after 6 years?

When you talk about it making you uncomfortable and then talk about an all or nothing (maybe if you had all of them would maybe use) it sounds like you need things to look the same, and that’s a personal issue more than a game issue.

I refuse to speculate on the source of this drive, but I have several ideas. What I will say is that maybe it would be good for you to become more comfortable by playing with said golden heroes and learning to ignore them and the fact that all your heroes are different? Rather than seeing your current “discomfort” for lack of a better term as a problem, maybe you could look at it as a growth opportunity for you?

Anyway, I hope it is sorted for you to your satisfaction soon.

I can’t believe so many ppl don’t have all golden heroes

I can’t believe you call 2 3 or 130 ppl, so many :stuck_out_tongue:

To be honest, yeah… I was trolling… a little bit.
But, to be fair your post seemed sarcastic or intentionally exaggerated. So i was just adding to the joke.

Not that crap again. And why are then golden normal cards optional? Why can you disable golden cards in Arena? Of course gameplay wise it’s a non-issue. But the visuals are also important. At least to some. Although the main reason I don’t like to be forced to use golden heroes is really because it feels way to much “showoff” and I’m not a showoff. If others don’t see it that way or want to be a showoff I don’t care. But why force me to use it if see it that way? I just want to be like everyone else and not be a stupid showoff. I also use pre-order heroes but those should all be sold at the store in my opinion so that’s why I don’t consider those “showoff”. But golden heroes? It’s a permanent change on all heroes of that class you can’t get rid off which to me would just convey “look at me, I’m superior”. I know this isn’t the case and most might not even think of it that way but that was my first impression and that’s the important part for me. Why is this “upgrade” mandatory? You can choose which portrait you use, which cards you put into your deck (golden or normal ones), which card back to use. But that “golden upgrade” on all of your heroes? It’s a permanent change I can’t get rid off if for whatever reason I don’t like it. Why?!

No, I was not sarcastic and it was not exaggerated. But I guess to some it may look like that. And I imagine some still won’t believe me. But to me that’s really an incredible annoyance.

Cool cool. It is a good suggestion, indeed is weird that, by now, we can’t pick the none gold version of our heroes. But for 99% of the players, it isn’t and annoyance. Would it be cool yeah, but a reason to be mad… no

So… a first world problem

I guess that makes more sense then. But to me it is an annoyance to be mad about. For other people it’s like game balance and whatnot but for me it’s that which currently takes a little bit of enjoyment out of this game. You could say that to anything else in this forum as well. “No reason to be mad about that. It’s just a game. First world problem.” But that’s not helpful. Why on this topic? Because you don’t see it as such a big problem? And because most people don’t see it as a big problem? Well, I guess that is probably ture. But then you should say it that way and not “first world problem”. Because anything discussed here is that in my opinion.
