Oh I agree on Murloc paladon - its basically a mid-range deck. Its presence in the meta enables aggro decks though because aggro decks beat murloc paladin handily. So the two things go together.
Against players that don’t have the play knowledge and/or decks to combat it they WILL lose on turn 6-7 easily. Just on it’s own it can be explosive enough to do that and if the opponent hasn’t got an answer for it it’s over when they drop the aura.
You are correct that it is a rank thing but most players are low rank so for the majority of players this deck can feel like a problem.
…yes? The only other option in the triangle is combo, and not only does combo not exist right now, but aggro counters combo. Control counters aggro, and the mirror is just who does it better.
Are you complaining that in rock paper scissors, when your opponents are all playing rock, that you should play paper?
I’ve been climbing up to D5 the past couple weeks and all I can say is it’s all Paladin, Mage, and DK. Especially paladins. It’s like 50% paladins. I win most of the time against paladin and half the time against mage, but I’ve literally never beaten a DK. Also there’s the occasional priest.
I wouldn’t complain that Paladin is OP or anything but dang is it getting really stale and annoying.
Be glad that you’re facing Paladin. It’s better than RNG shuffle rogue, infinite buff quest shaman, die in 5 turns beast hunter, ‘where did my HP go’ demon hunter and ‘I picked the best deck’ blood DK.
Aggressive metas are the best time for homebrews IMO. Slap some anti-aggro cards together while targeting the most popular and you have a decent chance against the other decks too. When combo or control have multiple tier 1 decks though, their strategy/win conditions could be so wildly different that targeting any one of them could leave you helpless against the rest.
Aggro Metas for life.
Honestly if this thread title said “Stale boring meta” and left out the murloc/aggro part, it would be harder to disagree. I suspect the ladder is getting boring whever you are. Sounds like its different decks at different levels, but, for example, the legend meta seems to be at least 50% Quest Warlock, Control DK, Fyrakk Rogue and Protoss Priest with a few random things thrown in (today I played Discover Hunter and Peddlar Demon Hunter, both pretty rare). Not that I’m helping - I’m playing Quest Warlock.
I blame the failure of the miniset - It didn’t move the meta at all and gave a few decks extra time to get refined and even more oppressive. Diversity (which, in my opinion, is the most important sign for meta health) has really suffered. And yeah, its less fun.
I think the power level is too high, not too low. The first impression this game gives you is that half the decks are BS.
