Wow, I haven’t even thought of this, god that’s terrible.
I hate Bomb Warrior and the gimmick. “Take 20-40 damage for drawing cards and have literally no way to deal with it” isn’t a fun mechanic. This, however, makes it worse.

Problems are solved when they rise and not before.
Also if wild did get THAT impact I would call it a win since the format rarely gets any significant metagame impact.
Do bombs count as spells? They could just Geist them like they did Jade Druid. Create a geist that removes all 5 mana spells.
just cause his 2 mana you draw him in the early game. also, looking at paladin cards with tutor draw*; Finley stats makes him avoid the tutors as well.
I can hear their Murloc laughter in my dreams … and only thing i can show them is Bee’s…
Yeah but what about those corrupted bloods you can shuffle into the decks as well? Hakkar, I think it is? I don’t know how viable it is but I imagine any deck that is capable of shuffling cards into your opponents deck is going to be a huge letdown.
Also, is it possible these highlander cards were geared toward Wild?
Bombs are cool but so are singleton decks so that’s a big HMMMMMMMMM from me.
You have to draw the Blood first so there is some RNG to getting 2 in the deck. Also, the Corrupted Bloods are a Deathrattle an in Standard there is no good way to self-proc the DR since Hakkar is 10-mana so silence can counter.
Too strong by directly heavy countering one deck.
I guess it should be something like that. Especially when it looks like devs are in love with heavy rng:
Goblin Bomb Defuser
6 mana
5/3
Battlecry: Draw all bombs from your deck. Each bomb has 50% chance not to explode.
On a serious note - nothing like that would happen. It basically target single deck thus something like that would never be released I bet.
Minesweeper [mech] 5/1/5
Remove all bombs from each players deck. Deal 1-4 damage to a random character for each bomb removed.
Maybe they do something like:
Battlecry: Replace all duplicates in your deck with random Legendaries.
You could run the highlander cards in other decks then - and also remove all but one bomb against bombwarrior.
However balancing these highlander cards is really a though thing.
There won’t be anti-bomb tech card.
So, I think Blizzard betting on new Highlander decks able to survive in a Bomb Warrior meta OR… next Warrior deck is even going to be stronger than Bomb Warrior and therefore no Warrior will play with Bombs.
Not only are the cards dissapointing (ok, maybe not dissapointing but underwhelming) but they come out during a time when one of the most dominant decks in the meta is a natural counter to the Highlander archetype.
If this was the first expansion of 2020, you’d have a year of subdued Highlander legs that would then have a year (2021) to breathe because of Bomb Warrior rotating out.
The way things are - the only good outcome is if somehow Bomb Warrior becomes a niché counter deck, but then again - with such lacking battlecries I doubt Highlander decks would be a thing anyway. Unless of course that other Highlander card they haven’t revealed yet is actually the new backbone of such builds.
Quite frankly I expect the usual Blizzard shenanigans where they introduce a mechanic supposedly for multiple classes, yet only one or two manage to make it useful, while the rest just have them rolling around as dead cards.
For reference: Jades in Rogue during MSoG, all classes that lacked dedicated C’thun cards during Whispers and since we’re talking about Highlander decks: Mage and Warlock one-of decks post LoE rotation when only Highlander Priest was playable due to imba DK + pre-nerf Raza The Chained interraction.
I don’t like that idea, it would remove some options from us and would also remove the usefulness of these cards mid game if discovered.
Also Bomb Warrior is roughly 8% of the meta according to last VS report, I dont think having something that counters your deck hard 1/12 games is to bad. Remember when Freeze Mage was really good it was right during the Control Warrior era and that was an extremly hard counter to Freeze Mage and it didnt stop it from being great.
So I don’t think that one deck will keep the decks at bay, there are other issues that are far more troubling for Highlander decks than a specific deck being good against them.
As far as like the Paladin goes thats a card they will mulligan hard for and it will be played prior to bombs in alot of cases.
I strongly think blizzard will change exactly that befor release. Its a tooo big failure that again didnt saw like the Mech OTK Combo. YOu cant throw your Hero Cards out ( which btw are very boring) and let them counter such easy
The dev team is clueless 90% of the time — the community can see this as a problem instantly yet they refuse to nerf Dr Boom Mad Genius or the cards that would bring warrior down to a level that wouldn’t see them dominate the meta.
So many people keep coming up with cards that draw/defuse your bombs, but let’s not forget some very important things.
First of all you’d be playing a really bad card at pretty much every other matchup.
Secondly, no matter what rarity you make that card, since you’re building a highlander deck then you can only realistically include one of them. So there’s still a decent chance you might have to wait 10-15 turns until you draw it and get access to your powerful legendary cards again.
Third since you’re only playing one, unless you play the legendary on the same turn the bomb warrior could only go elekk, another bomb card, you again don’t have any access to your reno like cards’ effects.
They really thought printing and revealing 4 Highlander cards at once with bombs in the meta would give long-term hype.
Ha!
I say
Ha!
No forethought here on the devs part – if anything they should have revealed the warrior nerfs we all so badly need and a way to counter this gameplay. As it stands there is no reason to have these cards in your deck.
It is all a ploy to increase the usage rate of The Darkness.
