I already agreed ‘‘greedy’’ was the wrong term and this clown comes here to flame me and being condescending. that’s literally all he does whenever he posts in ANYONE’s thread.
And I’m supposed to accept that ?
When someone calls me out or tries to insult/make fun of me, I’m not going to run away like a little girl. And why would I have respect for someone who doesn’t respect me nor anyone ?
But of course, you are SO mature throwing that in there and just running away without responding, which I know is exactly what you did. Keyboard warriors are the best.
the thing is that it may not cost them anything, but it costed something to make these cards in the first place.
The game has costs as well (servers, maintenance…), but we can use all these services for free.
The business model is “charge people for extra stuff”, so I think it’s fair to have something non mandatory not free.
I was surprised to see so many strong cards (legendary) in the core set, since it was a free set; compared to the classic set (not free) it’s so much better, even if we “lose” all cards when they rotate.
The same happened to classic cards, but with the difference that they couldn’t be used for free
Basic experiment.
Take a random guy, and give him 20 bucks a day.
He’ll be thankfull for a week, maybe two. After that, he will get used to it.
Keep doing so during a year and after that amount of time, stop giving him that.
What will be his reaction :
Tell himself “oh I was lucky, but now it’s over”
He will throw a tantrum telling you you’re being selfish
Some similar experiment have been realized by some psychologists. People often tend to react in a bad way in the end, even if in the process, they earned a lot.
Bee is not acting like a child, just like a human, with all the biases we all have.
Unluckily for him, when we pointed it out to him, he entered in a cognitive dissonance and is now unable to think normaly because of the feels.
The best reaction was to stop interacting with that thread until the hard feelings start fading. That was a good call at first.
A lot of people here claiming to not understand why others are upset…
The simple answer is they felt like they had something and now they feel like Blizzard is taking it away. Sure there may be some misunderstanding and/or ignorance involved, but the feelings involved are pretty obvious and easy to understand as far as I’m concerned…
That being said, I personally think it’s fine because I’ll just craft the stuff I want and agree the game’s economy has become more pro-consumer over the last couple years. At the end of the day it’s the market/money interests that will decide whether Blizzard is being too greedy… definitely not this forum lol.
I think everyone understand why some people are upset about core set rotating. It’s not a difficult thing to grasp.
But we need to explain that it has been said from the beginning and that it’s not something worth throwing a tantrum about.
Because I’m sure you know what you’re talking about huh.
By your LOGIC, they must’ve lost a ton of money with the core set since it’s free.
And if you don’t think they did, it’s hilarious anyone would suggest they would actually lose money from letting the player base keep the cards for wild when barely a fraction would even use them.
At what point did I say anything about income? I only said that anyone who thinks software is free doesn’t know how it gets created. I’m sure they made money on the core set by attracting new players and/or returning ones as well as revitalizing the base set.
Would they make money by keeping the cards free? I have no idea and didn’t try to claim anything either way.
the free core set was something we as players needed: the classic set was garbage and the few good cards were slowly getting hall of famed.
The only solution was to make it from scratch, but if it had a cost we would have been really mad (no refund for classic cards + pay for new cards).
On the other hand, if these cards will be no longer legal in standard, there is no point in giving them for free.
They took our classic cards to give us a free core set, now they are taking away the free core set to give us a new free core set.
They are already losing money, simply by making new cards that are free. If anything can be gained: if people liked some cards and they will craft them, they will make some (very few compared to bundles) money, which is legit
It’s pretty obvious they have to pay an employee who thinks about the card design, makes the codes and artwork, etc. Did Bee really need to specify that ? We’re not 10 years old kids, obvious things are obvious, he said it’s free in the context that it really doesn’t cost them anything to let the players keep their cards from a rotating core set.
but at the same time, why should they do that?
It also costs nothing for them to just gift a preorder to everyone, but this would make people less likely to spend money on the new expansion.
If there are people who want to play core rotated cards, they will make little money from it, which isn’t a lot but it’s still something
I don’t think that’s the right way to look at this, they are just as likely to lose money from the old returning players who decide to instantly quit again because they lost access to the older core cards that rotated (which could be a key part of their deck) that was given to them for free when they were building that specific deck.
For example, some low ranked players may really like that 5/5 mage legendary or that 3/6 rush that buffs their hand, if these 2 rotates that might be a devastating blow to a LOT of casual players, who might just quit the game. I feel like this scenario is a lot more likely to happen than ‘‘making money’’ off the guys who’ll craft some rotating core cards (which is a fraction of the playerbase).
You might be surprised but at very low rank, there’s a lot of returning players who haven’t played in a while who chooses the wild format because they have no standard decks. And if those guys are enjoying their returns, they might decided to spend a little bit of cash.
And what about the battle ready decks, some of these decks included core cards, will they be given the core cards that were part of the decks or will they have to craft it again ? It should be given to them for free since they made a purchase but knowing blizzard, you never know.
The thing is, blizzard has all the data and are constantly gathering more. You can bet that if they lose more money by not giving the cards away they’ll give the next core set away.
When people use the word literally I assume they’re being literal. Since it didn’t “literally cost them nothing” then it’s not taking anything out of context, it’s literally replying to what was literally said.
I don’t think it will happen.
A f2p player may like these cards, but if they will go to wild, they won’t probably care that much and they will be happy with the new free core cards.
A wild player that quit the game because some core cards are no more free is an absurd idea: I am a wild player, I haven’t a huge wild collection (I started in witchwood), but when I want to play a card I may craft it.
For sure I won’t stop playing wild because some free core cards will cost me 1600 dust (if I really need them); in fact I already quitted wild, but it was because of the abominable environment that was created with UiS.
Hopefully yes, since you paid for them.
If in your collection you have 2x of a core card, I think it’s safe to assume you will keep it.
If instead even when you bought one of these core cards the counter stayed at 1x, then they probably didn’t consider that scenario and we will get screwed once again.
A returning player by definition is behind everyone else.
If they lose a core card that they used for 4 months, but then they get a new one, I think they will be happy about it, because now they have more cards to play in standard.
Core cards in wild aren’t enough to make a good deck, even at low ranks; if they are playing wild with only core cards, I think they had better play in standard anyways
