I’m at Silver 5 right now, bonus stars is x2 and am trying to push up to Gold 10. I’m using some Budget Tempo DH and Budget Dragon Hunter (more luck with the latter, honestly). Also got a sort of Galakrond Rogue Deck too.
Anyone got any cards/recipes they could recommend to me? It would be appreciated.
your decks already are good enough to climb
Sometimes you lose 5 straight games, other times you might win 5 straight. Just depends on your luck and who you get matched up against. Also depends on your playstyle. I’ve noticed an increase in aggro decks so make sure you have some early game minions to throw out to prevent early face damage.
Doesn’t mean I shouldn’t expand my variety.
Don’t wast time you get crap on over by RNG anyway.
I’d like to minimize the factor of luck, but yeah, that’s life. Got lucky to push into Silver 5 like I did.
Anyway, I’ll keep the counter-aggro idea in mind.
Find a tier 1-2 deck (look on VS datareaper) that you enjoy playing/can afford and play it a lot.
Install a decktracker so you can watch replays, know your stats and are aware of your outs.
Then play some more! Stick with the 1 deck, you know it’s a good deck (VS get data from 1000’s of games, they’re pretty reliable), so if you aren’t doing well you know it’s either a pocket of bad luck or , more likely, you’re not playing optimally.
Keep playing, watch replays, maybe watch streamers (personally not really into watching HS ,YMMV) and you’ll get to know your deck well, as well as learning how to play best vs the common meta decks.
Good luck!
OK, it’s SOME start; found I’m rather close to the recommended Spell druid Deck (need another Glowfly and some rares). Getting a Dragonbane for my Hunter is going to be annoying, though…'course, it may be a good excuse to get other DoD cards, like for Galazoolock.
Got any Decktrackers you can recommend?
Translation: Stick to what I’ve got/can make and build up from there, supplementing with Tavern, Arena, and Rank rewards.
Thanks for the advice.
Spell Druid is not a very good deck, particularly if you’re facing a lot of aggro. If you’re looking to climb, there are better options to spend your dust on.
@Madmax is right, spell Druid is probably not the greatest deck to climb with.
After having a quick look at HSReplay I would recommend Tempo Demon Hunter, Dragon Hunter or Secret Galakrond Rogue as decks that are good to climb with and could take you all the way to Legend if you get good enough.
How far away from those decks are you? Sometimes it’s possible to make some cheaper substitutions for missing Epics/Legendaries (and sometimes not!).
Hearthstone Decktracker is the one i use and it seems to work very well and is free.
I have a Budget Tempo Demon Hunter and Dragon Hunter, as mentioned on the original post (i.e. no Kayn, Metamorphosis, or Dragonbane, one set of epics each), and I do have a Galakrond Rogue, but not much in terms of Rogue secrets or secret support (Just one Bamboozle). And don’t get me started on Dragonhoof…
Also, thanks, I’ll download it when I get free time.
Consider Murloc Paladin. Not too expensive.
I see…a shame. Thanks for the heads up; guess if I DO get the materiel for Spell Druid, it’ll be for lols.
Your best bet for climbing is probably a budget Demon Hunter deck, something like this
Twin Slice x2
Battlefiend x2
Crimson Sigil Runner x2
Chaos Strike x2
Furious Felfin x2
Sightless Watcher x2
Spectral Sight x2
Umberwing x2
Eyebeam x2
Frozen Shadoweaver
Satyr Overseer x2
Altruis
Raging Felscreamer x2
Glavebound Adept x2
Skull of Gul’dan x2
Priestess of Fury x2
You should have all those cards, and the deck is definitely good enough to climb the ladder with, it doesn’t really need anything extra.
Good luck with your climb.
Pretty sure I have all but the Felfins (Got Felwings, instead).
Oh, and got to Gold 10 with Dragon Hunter ^^ Meso happy.
Then upgrade one of your decks!
Easy peasy!
If the primary consideration is ranking up, upgrade DH. Either Legendary will be a great upgrade. And you don’t need 2019 cards rotating earlier.
Rogue is hardest to play and super expensive . I don’t recommend it.
It does to be honest. Even the best players in the world stick to a small selection of decks. Your goal should be to find one or two decks you enjoy and stick with them, being sure to learn as much as you can about them as well as their various matchups.
I’m also going to assume from your OP that you have limited cards/dust so blowing resources to craft more decks doesn’t make much sense when you could instead fill out gaps in your budget Dragon Hunter list. Obviously fun is subjective and if you genuinely find it boring, then switch, but otherwise it’s a very good deck and has a nice set of matchups in the current meta.
So “Focus on Ashes packs for the time being” is it?
Sounds easy enough.
And yeah, I kind of noticed how expensive Rogue is; I might as well make a Highland deck with how many legends it requires (I do have Heistbaron Togwaggle, though.)
Also note that it doesn’t come down ONLY to the deck you play.
Take Dragon Hunter for instance. The only “expensive” cards are: Dragonbane, Stormhammer, Rotnest drake (expensive if you don’t have Galakrond’s Awakening solo adventure).
Of those, Rotnest and Stormhammer are the only mandatory cards, and I don’t feel they are THAT expensive since having Galakrond’s Awakening is a good move in general as it has several great cards for several classes, which leaves Stormhammer… 2 epics is a pretty low requirement for a good deck.
Dragonbane… does increase a bit the power level of your deck, but is not that essential.
From there, it’s not so much about the deck but about how you play it effectively, make the right mulligans etc.
To help you on that front, posting replays would be useful.
I see your point…Still, I’d like at least one more deck to enjoy (Dragon Hunter is fine, but I’m mixed about Tempo DH)…I’ll make whatever’s convenient (i.e, luck with card packs) when possible, then.
