Can risk and rally really make a fair ranking?

The biggest issues I see are:

  • delays due to cutscenes and animations within the dungeons that some people have exploited or found some way to avoid those, likely outside of Blizzards design intent.

  • Some classes can shortcut through or over certain obstacles in certain dungs by using class specific skills that most everyone else has to run around. This could be by design or an exploit, I don’t know. But its one rule for those and one rule for everyone else.

  • If you don’t start it on day one and keep on top of it, you won’t rank very far at all. Due to RL issues I wasn’t able to start the event until two days later and the leaderboards were already fully stacked. I tried to pile on runs in an effort to catch up but all the horses had well and truely bolted. Killed my motivation to even really try after that.

It’s a fun event, but implemented poorly.

My 2 cents here

  • A wall with either a countdown timer or an interaction requirement should be there after every loading screen and the timer should be stopped as long as the wall is there. Obviously the timer also needs to stop as soon as the player clicks to advance to the next level if there is a loading screen in between (like fahir and mkb).
  • Enemies should be the same for every dungeon - the result shouldn’t depend on getting orange, yellow and blue packs instead of normal packs
  • If the event is planned with normal mode in mind then bosses should not have immune phases at all or should have every time even if that means they do it with 1 hp. Very frustrating that sometimes the immune phase kicks in sometimes not…
  • A timer needs to be added to the run to see if we are doing good or not so we can quickly leave and restart if we lose time somewhere.
  • Dungeons should not rotate this quickly and for this long time. Also should be more then 6 in the rotation. Best would be to not even rotate them just let players run whatever they want through the event but I understand that would go against the idea of forcing players to log in every day twice.

Couple suggestions:

  • End the event sooner - it was fun at first, now I think ranks are pretty well set and times are slower as ppl just make token effort to sustain position until clock runs out. It also sucks you are out of the running if you have to miss 1 dungeon in 2.5 weeks. Cycle every dungeon one time and end it rather than it rotating same subset over and over.

  • Add a separate ranking for higher difficulty. I want to run on inferno and balancing kill speed with movement to matter. Normal is pure can you abuse movement and avoid animations. Yes, I know this gives whales an advantage (so keep normal too), but I’d still have more fun doing it.
