Thank you. I hate that everything is being compared to ice shards as if it’s this pinnacle OP ability. It is B-tier at best, and needs buffing in it’s own right. If sorc was super tanky that would be one thing, but it’s also the squishiest class in the game by far. Not to mention it’s awkward and tedious to play, all damage being locked behind the melee defensive skill frost nova. So here we have a class that does the least damage and has the least defenses, and is just generally frustrating to play, and blizz says “here’s 2% damage on your builder skills.”
They are doing some S tier trolling.
Just reinforces my belief devs got killed in pvp in d2 by a sorc, and ride barbs hard.
Taking away the 3rd enhancement slot made no sense imo…give it back and allow more build diversity.
D2 Hydra Sorc was the nemesis of all hardcore leveling.

Some small changes will fix this class. Ive levels to 100 with chain lightning and can do 70+ dungeons. Now leveling a fireball sorc to see how that feels on end game. Currently level 78 and tier 30 is a breeze. Everything just blows up. Pretty confident I’ll get to 70 as well with this. Some minor changes and these builds will be able to push 100. A complete overhaul? I don’t see any reason why.
You admit you havent pushed the content with different builds and tell those who have to wait for you to figure it out lmao
The lack of empathy and cogent thought in your post shows you have limited knowledge of the sorcerer class.
Ice shards is S-tier if we’re just considering sorcerer abilities. It can pierce, ricochet, and apply vulnerability. It does a huge amount of resource-free damage as an enchant and costs less than most spenders. The only downside I see is that it has a narrow hitbox and can miss at close range.
Start comparing it to things outside the class and it drops a few tiers though, no doubt. It is not even close to the best single target ability in the game, nor is it the best AoE ability.
It’s the only useable ability we’ve got and it’s second-rate by any other standard.

I have played pretty much this build from the start. I switched to temerity after this patch to try it out with raiment. It really isn’t as versatile as you are making it out to be. I have been bricking sigils since the patch and up until this point I have NEVER bricked a sigil. I’ve had to drop 5 sigil levels to be able to get through a dungeon fairly reliably.
You are running NM30 at 86, that is mediocre at best, and NM30 is still in the “rofl faceroll” bracket.
I’m going to be experimenting more with jamming barriers everywhere I can put them so maybe I can have 100% uptime without taking flame shield - I refuse to have 4 defensives. God forbid I would like to have more than two offensive spells, especially when one of them is on a stupid CD.
Oh, and as a final piece of advice to sorcs, just insta-salvage every Betrayer’s Row sigil. That place is utter hell. All of those wonderful one-shot ranged mobs types you love so much in one happy little bunch.
