You literally had the audacity to advertise the game as people being able to play how they wanted, yet nearly every nerf is to force people into playing how you want them. Not quality of life, not fixing bugs, not adding content but you literally put it in your reasoning for the hot fix players are playing in a way we didn’t intend. You lied blizz.
New to modern Blizzard I see.
I’m playing my way. I don’t understand this thread. Why does everyone assume they speak for everyone else? Lol
Hey now when they said “your class, your way” they never said “best class your way” or “viable class your way”
Playing my way. No problem. My build, and I dont feel pressured to one they want me into. I’m thinking the reverse of OP is true: that they are pushing you away from standardized builds and into a spot where variety can exist.
Jury is still out. On paper melee builds got the shaft that’s the way I want to play. I’m doing OK post patch, but seeing my limitations in the rear view mirror approaching much faster than before the patch hitting the wall on a much more complete build at 85 on one of the stronger melee builds (flurry rogue) where previously I had made it to 90 on one of the worst designed builds (Druid pet) in the game.
Other classes like Necro got hit pretty hard with maybe some potential return from uniques, but summoners still look like they might have a tough time.
And there is sorc. Resistances still broken, new broken unique item, best builds only real source of damage gutted. Feel bad for sorcs. I want to play a pure ice sorc one day when they finally fix it as it’s one of the most iconic builds in the franchise, but not until maybe S2 or S3 when they get around to fixing the class.
You can play your way.
Believe it or not there is a good sized base playing the game that could care less about NM 100’s or watching YouTube for the next “meta”. They are just chillin.
And before you say there are tons on the forums saying otherwise, just know we are maybe 5% if even that, that play this game. I’m being generous with that 5 my friend. Most “casuals” don’t even know about how General Hospital these threads are.
If you are just down to make a class and enjoy what you can enjoy then boom, your way.
If you are down to min/max and push push push, then yeah, you are hella upset.
Ain’t that the truth
My custom corpse /shadow Necro’s doing fine so far - noticeable drop in damage compared to pre-patch but still pushing reasonably enough. Durable and reliable.
Custom lightning /fire sorc is doing well to - the nerf to stun aspect hurt but not a show stopper.
Druid pulverize build is insane atm.
Never was concerned about NM 100 - just as I wasn’t concerned about GR150 in D3.
No special interest in Uber Lilith clear either.
Haven’t been meta my entire time as a Diablo player.
I build what I want and accept if it has limitations as I go. Necro holds her own +13 her level, Sorc holding +10 her level etc.
Amen brother, amen.
Us casual peasants gotta stick together.
One day we will rise up against the elites and take back what’s ours! The damn living room and as much cold beer as we want wife! I mean, our dignity. I meant video game dignity. One day we will do it.
Good luck!
The nerfs absolutely hurt the casual player even if they don’t necessarily feel it. By contrast the top 5% of players will be unaffected by whatever nerfs you throw at them.
If the goal is to grow the game and push more players into the seasonal model than this patch was not a good move in my eyes. They will be fine in WT1 to level 50 but it’s going to change when they finally decide to make the jump to midgame and WT3.
The seasonal journey is sure to require that and more and the type of player that upgrades gear based on green numbers = good is going to be carried less by whatever random rolls is crit, vuln and damage reduction than the were before. It will lead to more deaths, more frustration and less casual players progressing into the seasonal model.
The casual player can’t even fall back on the eternal model at this time either because its power is also adjusted to the seasonal model. I don’t think changing the base game this drastically was the right move for the long term health of the game and it will do more harm than good if they continue on this path.
I agree to a point, I do.
I also know that majority of casuals will be right in that sweet spot you mentioned at 50 or so and maybe a lil further. The time sink will just be too much to progress.
Look, I play more than the average casual and I didn’t get a 100. I mean I guess I could have maybe, I hit 85 Wiz, 72 Druid, 68-69 Rogue, 45 Barb & 42 Necro. Had I focused on one then maybe, BUT, I didn’t because it’s a grind and I got bored and so I was like oh man lemme try this dude. I have a feeling it’ll be the same this time.
Could not agree with more on the Eternal realm getting bent over and railed man. I mean, for Seasons sector, fine, do whatever but Eternal dudes just got B slapped.
I almost feel like it was done that way to push people not wanting to do Seasons into it which is gross.
lol - with Diablo I’ve never accepted the GR push as compelling “content” as I don’t see the NM’s as compelling content. I was a WoW Raider for over a decade and a half and for the most part it usually felt like newish content - worth the 1% push. Diablo hasn’t really ever had true end game content - just puffed up health pools /damage pools for the same stuff you did in your mid levels.
This game is gonna be whatever you make of it. It’s right there for the taking whichever way you go.
You wanna be ho hum and just play it when you wanna chill a bit then it’ll cater. And if you call it good then no one can complain to you in any way that you could agree.
You wanna push and push to see what you can do then you absolutely could say F this I’m out and wait to install Remnant 2 in a few days.
It’s kind of like the 84 draft. Everybody says man Portland is dumb for not taking MJ, but no one really says anything about the Rockets taking Akeem (he was Akeem at the time). They are just like yeah ok.
This game is the same.
It’s either Sam Bowie or The Dream.
The goal seems to sell hours played to new players - slowing everything up falls in line with that marketing goal. New players won’t necessarily know or care what it was like before a point.
True enough about the 5% - they will just find the new meta and move on.
As a “casual” the nerf’s haven’t really changed much at all for me - I wasn’t chasing the meta so the vuln hit didn’t hurt, stun did [but I’ve since adapted] and the slowing up of things is just what it is [I knew it was coming].
I figure a “reset” will occur ever pre-season to align with the new season coming out. This way they can change the perceived meta play, keep pacing slow in general and carry on with the plan.
Which class was least affected or at least still the most to play if you can grind your teeth through the defensive nerfs? I’m one of the dumbasses who came back for nostalgia and dropped over $100 thinking it wouldn’t be a D3 repeat. And I accept that’s on me so I’m trying to make the best of it. Not asking for builds or what uniques or trying to bootlick but I’m not down to quit after dropping more than I did for other newer games. Strictly what is going to help me feel like I’m still getting the best bang for my buck fellahs.
I’ve never understood why ARPG’s can’t add more engaging mechanics other than more enemies and bullet sponges.
I mean they tried here with chasing a lighting dome or running from a giant rock, but those are more annoying than anything and just not all that rewarding or engaging.
They attempted to break up the monotony of killing monsters by adding monotonous side tasks like collecting rocks and back tracking through a half empty dungeon to drop them on a pedestal. This kind of stuff is OK sometimes but very dungeon is one of 4 tasks, find stuff, kill everything, kill things to collect stuff, kill the 3 thematic things to that region. That’s it, that’s the variety.
So far I’ve a 93 Necro [Shadow /Corpse], 86 Sorc [Lightning /Fire - no ice at all], 63 Druid [Pulverize /Landslide /Poison], 56 Rogue [Ranged only - no melee] and 29 Barbarian [two weapon bleed - non whirlwind]. I deliberately pick what I want to play and go from there, if it’s meta then cool if not then I spend most of my time finding pieces to make the idea work [ish].
In D3 I was a LoN and LoD builder - didn’t use the set’s. So it feels more or less the same vibe.
All feels very 2015 eh.
