Being disconnected mid-game is one thing, but being locked out of logging back in for an unset amount of time doesn’t make much sense as a feature (vs waiting in the in-game queue).
…this is starting to feel more like a middle finger than a product.
PS: This can all be fixed with an offline mode (considering all the ‘online’ issues).
That message is a bit misleading and alarming!
When you get disconnected it takes a few minutes for the game to fully log you out. If you try to log in before the server releases you, then you will get that “locked” error message. It really means “an account in this name already exists on the server”.
You just have to wait a few mins for the server to finish logging you out and then you can log back in.
That will not happen. The game is designed to be an online only game for a lot of reasons. The code that runs the game is largely server side and they are not going to put that on each of our computers. That way leads to high levels of piracy. A lot of it also is set up to have separate instances of the game generated when we enter an area, dungeon, or event. It would take a lot of re-work to change all that.
MANY games are now online only and I don’t honestly expect that to change, no matter how much I would also like that.

Unfortunately, it’s not misleading: That’s the message I receive whenever I’m disconnected and try to log-in immediately after. What you explained makes sense, but in practice, whoever this is happening to is ‘left in the dark’ with an “account locked” EC395002 message and no mentioned time frame.
I still think getting dumped in the queue with a message referring to the server data transfer would make more sense than the “Account Locked” message. The message it’s self is misleading as to what’s actually happening.
As for an offline mode: I understand the piracy/‘live service’ aspect, but when the quality and performance of the game is debilitated by this feature, I feel the ladder should (at the very least) be considered.
Exactly. It alarms people and makes some think their account is somehow suspended or banned. It should say something more accurate like “this account is already logged in, please wait several minutes for complete logout”.
