If you aren’t taking at least half of all your stats as defensive stats you are playing the game wrong and will face huge problems in higher levels.

Every stat that can be defensive, should be defensive.
This is inaccurate. I took defensive skills on my sorc and didn’t seem to take less damage than not having them. Only thing that made a difference survival wise is flat +health. I switched the skills from defensive to offensive because the defensive stuff is useless, same with gear.

It’s not wrong. You must take all the defensive stats you can or you will fail higher dungeons.
You will need constant 90% DR.
For example, if a barb’s shouts drop, they instantly die.

No, in higher dungeons as sorc you don’t fail by always dodging, teleporting, frost novaing, frost armoring, and teleporting when in danger. I’m a cold sorc so most things are frozen, so +dmg gear and passives are much better for me.
Nope that is not how the game works.
You need defensive stats.

You don’t “need” them, though.
If you can manage to not take damage, you can play however you want.
Is it advisable, is it the best, is it even good? No, no and not really.
But it is not “needed”.

“playing wrong”. You confuse playing in a suboptimal manner with playing the game in a wrong one.
There is no “wrong way” to play the game. You can quite literally pick a single ability and all passives and still complete the game if you dedicate enough of your time to it. It will take significantly more time, yes, but even then it is still not “wrong”.

Listen, when talking about right or wrong it implies that there are guidelines that would prohibit us playing in a specific manner.
There is not. In fact, the game is made with the idea of “play your own way”, thus invalidating your idea of “playing the game the wrong way”.
Get a life and stop trying to dictate others how to play.
You are probably poisoned by guides so much that you cannot see yourself playing the game any other way than the one someone dictated it to you, so now you feel the need to dictate it to others because you cannot stand the fact that others are enjoying the game in a different way.
There are guidelines. It’s called living. If you don’t take defensive stats you won’t be living in higher dungeons.

I’ve never followed any streamers or maxroll guides at all, i follow my own and everything works fine, i’ve tried maxroll’s guides, it was awful and not great, so…
Point me to the guidelines.
I can’t wait to see blizzard officially state “you are prohibited to dying in-game because you HAVE to live”.
Just because you are setting personal guidelines for your own life it does not mean others have to. It is a video-game.
