That’s… the exact opposite of what people are talking about lol. People want to use WASD to move their character around. Not have to click with the mouse, or use a controller. Using a controller to use WASD… is just wrong lol.
But essentially, that’s what Destruction2 is trying to do, use a program to make WASD move his character, which is what he’s working on, and what the Dev’s should simply implement themselves. Technically, it’s not something that’s encouraged. But because it has no advantage in gameplay, and can’t really be detectable, there’s not much they could do about it.
Is it tho? You posted a gif (or vid idk) earlier, and it definitely didn’t look like it was one click to one action. You were presumably holding W, whereas the game seemed to be receiving constant spams of LMB. That’s not 1:1. That’s 1:10000. Unless you were actually spamming W at insanely fast speeds, which is… possible but unlikely
Why you so upset that people might want WASD? seems a little weird.
I used a controller for D3 but in D4 I liked keyboard and mouse better but for the Sorc, I would have liked WASD so I could run backwards and attack. I may not use it all the time but it has times it would be needed.
Controller lacks precision and atm there is issues devs need to fix in regards to distance for Barbs leap and a few other things.
You can do that with controller and…mouse movement if you’ve got a steady and healthy hand to you…
The kids and E-sports talents on League of Legends playing ranged ad carry you wouldn’t believe what they can do with a mouse. You just want to resort to a lazy measure which makes characters move unnaturally all the time, likely lowering the challenge aspect.
It’s “wrong” because you have travel time on a controller, you have to go past neutral.
With mouse and gamepad you have to commit to movement, this is natural movement that good game devs design their game around.
WASD is instant movement, there is no travel time between opposite inputs and it’s broken, and there will be people who are a lot better than it than you are.
We need this franchise less nerdy and more competitive, competition is statistically superior.
LOL. You’re talking pure nonsense out of your @$$. I was correcting someone who asked about mapping WASD keys to a controller. Which is as nonsensical as anything coming out of that mouth of yours. If your brain doesn’t work, then quit running your mouth without thinking.
I enjoyed D1 & D2 using keyboard and mouse. As soon as i tried out D3 with the Xbox-Joypad i never came back using keyboard and mouse to play a Diablo game. Same goes for the new Diablo 4. Awesome controller support.
I dont care so much about minor problems like placing teleports. I played a sorcerer in the first beta w/o any control problems. If they will improve it, fine but at the end im very comfortable with rocking the joypad.
I had zero problems with any of the game content/classes and were able to fully concentrate on trying out skills and builds. After a few minutes the joypad controls became part of my body and i forgot about it.
To each their own. Chose your control-weapon and most important: Have fun.
I enjoy all different kinds of people and I don’t want Diablo to be a game strictly for nerds like myself only after 3 months.
A top online infastructure like Blizzard should be aiming for league of legends casual accessibility and numbers. We should never hear them complain about “this guy is moving so well I felt like I didn’t stand a chance”, people can understand gear differences and poor decision making but move mechanics being cleaner and sharper on WASD is terrible when you need the keyboard for skills as well!
There was exactly one controller that fit my hand well and that was the original Wavebird for the Nintendo Gamecube.
But even then, I really hate not being able to point and click. Having to use the joysticks feels extremely clunky to me. I can never get the joysticks to do what I want accurately.
Although I could care less if it’s implemented, unless it prevents me from remapping the 1-2-3-4- defaults to ASDF.
I usually play a rogue, so I often don’t want to move in combat. Which in Diablo defaults to holding down the left shift key. My hands are small, so I can barely and very awkwardly use the 1234 defaults. And of course, I can easily move by not holding down the left shift key.
So I remapped my hotkeys to ASDF instead.
Of course, if the WASD crowd gets their wish (which I think is idiotic gameplay wise since a simple mouse click will move you where you want to be UNLESS you’re also holding down the shift key) it probably won’t affect me, if I can remap ASD.
Edited Note: And I hope I never have to play with you guys who think that either WASD or a controller are good ideas in Diablo.
Problem is, you cannot unbind left and right mouse from movement and attack.
Your solution would be perfect, if i could go 6 buttons for skil, and have my left mouse for movement only.
i would switch “resource spender” LMB to a “Support skill usefull in and out of combat”, which gives movement speed (Shout with movement speed barb, fireshild movementspeed source).
So you have no missclicks, when you change position.
WASD is only 4-way. Character will turn like a Sims character. They can do it but it’s not that easy like what you guys thought. Implement is an easy part, IDK how compatible would that be
