You DO NOT need wasd, you NEED a CONTROLLER

They tweeted yesterday that they are working on a solution to make teleport and hydra and all those things better for the controller. This will be solved, certainly.

The good thing is it does not matter what the zoom zoom min maxing PvP Players want. It is what the developers are willing to do, and lets face it they only gave your play style a zone. They will probably get to it providing it is not game breaking to implement (Hint:it is otherwise it would probably already be there) but I would not expect it before several seasons have gone by.

I mean they might not do anything. The executive game director liked a tweet yesterday talking about the implementation of WASD. So, we’ll see. In the meantime I’ll be making the argument for it because it makes no sense not to add it to the game.

WASD just breaks the game as it is overpowered compared to the supported control schemes. I have reported the cheaters using their AHK scrips or custom C# implementation’s to hacks@blizzard.comas well as Rod’s Twitter. Pretty sad especially when big mouths wand to cheat code the game.

Wrong forum OP. I think you should live in the Console forums, this is the PC Gamer area. PC Gamers tend to use whatever they want and most of us are particular to kb+mouse, more so WASD movement scheme.

It is superior. Let us use it and proper keybindings.

Anti-WASD posters are the new keyboard turners and clickers. And they want to force everyone else to do it too so they don’t feel inferior.

Waste time and resources to implement WASD… in 2023…really?

I played DII Resu with the controller because I was playing with the Necro, which is kinda passive, but for any active class where you need to chose where to place your sills, you need a mouse because it’s simply superior.

A guy already modded WASD into D4. Its possible by one guy in his basement during the betas!!!

I’m pretty sure Blizzard can implement it? It’ll be tough and take half a year but gosh darn it, they’ll get there.

Dear ā€œmy way or the highwayā€ stranger:
I have played Diablo with a m&kb since D1 ages ago.
however…
I have played Diablo 1 on PS1 also with a controller.

It was not as fun.

secondly many people do not ONLY play the game…they have discord or other things going on at same time and using a m&kb is more natural for those as they dont needp tu a controller down to swap to type.

thirdly WASD has been a core movement in msot games for literal decades.

fourth is fact mouse speed & precision is massively better than controllers & controller can also suffer stick drift (which is not ideal)

From a development standpoint it is not hard to add the code for WASD movement into a game. (you could do it within a day even for a person w/o yrs of doing coding for a living)

More options is always better than limiting options when there is no downside to having it.

D1 was on PS1. D3 is on consoles, as will be D4. D2 was the only PC exclusive.

It feels great on the ds5 and I modded mine for 2 extra triggers so any awkward buttons can be rebound. Movement is just so much easier on controller. I’m tired of clicking 9000 times. Did that in Diablo 2 quite enough. I don’t see why they can’t add wasd though.

Took me 4 hours today to write a c# application from scratch that sends mouse keys in the background so you can use your mouse at the same time. It also allows for key combinations of WASD. It even comes with a nice gui so you select your process you want to send the keys to, and you can adjust your Y and X offset on the fly.

It if takes them anymore than that, they should fire who ever is doing it.

https://i.imgur.com/KbSsixR.mp4 - Here is my last test video of it working. I am going to be adding smooth radial movement soon, and it will be open sourced and able to be used for other games too. The fact this was not added already is a absolute failure from their design team. I mean their whole console UI and zoomed in garbage are also failures, but this one just adds to the heap considering how easy it was to implement.

As was already mentioned, I sincerely hope you enjoy your future ban and failed appeal. Bookmarked for future chuckles.

ā€œAlso been strictly PC for 20+ years. My thumbs aren’t what they used to be.ā€

As in I’ve been strictly PC hence my thumbs aren’t used to controllers anymore.

Diablo 1 for PC and PS1 were fairly different games also. Many bosses were replaced and quests were cut out. Even more than the PC version. The shortage of multiplayer might have been in the game’s favor though due to rampant hacking.

There are a multitude of scenes playing out with this quote, all of them are cringe.

I’m getting plenty of chuckles about you telling a software designer that he’s going to get banned in a video game, for something he does for a living…

I’ve been laughing at people saying ā€œyou’re going to get bannedā€ to people who mod pc games for 20 years.

People have played Diablo series, other ARPG, and MOBA without WASD for decades now. Although I’m not against having the option I’m not sure why it’s suddenly such a big deal.

WASD has a significant flaw that our characters can only move in eight directions making it inadequate for dodging elite affixes precisely in higher WT where it gets crazy sometimes.

Just wondering…would it be considered cheating to use a controller emulator and map the buttons on the controller to WASD?

I personally don’t want WASD, but that could be a solution for those who do.

Nope. Can’t fine control things like teleport range and lose fine target control. Controller is garbage just like controller players are garbage. This is the objective and undeniable truth.
