You criticize the game, then you're too entitled!

What’s up with these people that go up in arms the moment D4 gets criticized?
The game isn’t perfect, not even close; it’s not terrible either but pointing out the issues and creating a discussion around how to make it better I’m sure IS EXACTLY what the devs want. In fact im willing to bet that it’s way more useful to post a criticism about the game in the forums than to have these “The fanbase is entitled” or “The fanbase is impossible to please”. Yeah of course those things are true in small dozes but it’s kind of irrelevant info.

I’m a hyper-entitled D2 Fanboy who didn’t touch much grass.
Shameless plug
D4 Pro/Con from a D2 Fanatic

And you sir are 100% correct. Game is far from where it should be 3 months from ‘release’

Plenty of things could use work.
Plenty of things could be tweaked.
Lots of bugs to fix.
The reason you get a lot of people criticizing those posts is because mostly they’re hyper-polarized.
“Do this or I won’t play it” + terrible suggestion + “Blizzard sucks and always has”.
It’s pretty late in the game to get a major rework, nor do I think they need one. We haven’t seen enough to know that anyway.

The same thing happened in D3. Luckily, the criticism kept coming in and they changed the game to the better.

A lot of people have unrealistic expectations, or an overinflated sense of selfworth.

People don’t wanna hear valid feedback in a beta, makes no sense but hey atleast they can continue the copium

and If you like the game in any way you are a fanboy shill.

Ya’ll are two sides of the same stupid coin.

This is where I’m at. I don’t think it’ll probably have another hidden disaster like D3 did, but I still feel shades of that same underlying acknowledgement this is going to have to be cleaned up after launch.

I’m honestly just tired of games (live service or not) launching before being ready.

Agree, some people might overlook the unfinshed game and some are feed up with it since it’s how the recent gaming market have been.

I feel constructive criticism posts from the beta is more beneficial than filling the forums up with admiration posts that Blizzard stated they don’t read anyways.

Sunk cost, blizzdrones are eternally mazed. They see an attack on the game as a personal attack at them.

It’s the same with every major game release.
There will be what could be described as company shills.
You do see the popularity and support of well written criticism by the number of likes though, which are always high.

People are obviously disappointed, that’s just a fact.
But hopefully Blizzard can make something good out of this.

I think that is also an undesirable, the game is enjoyable actually but it really really has some rough edges. I only take seriously people that provide some insights or knowledge and the occasional sharing of “I like this, or dislike that”. But insults are worthless, they don’t do anything but create sides that circle-jerk eachother.

A lot of people at Blizzard, their family/friends and yes fanbois have worked hard to present the game. There is hard emotion involved. I am not surprised to see criticism taken as a personal attack. Everyone wants to see the game succeed. Without the varying opinions d2 and d3 would have never been close to there current state. I hope they don’t take it personally and treat it professionally, but its hard to do that. If I was a dev, I would dread release.

The gaming industy has turned into an abomination. You got developer making huge claims, hyping up people so they can dish out those preorder money. Then by launch which is almost never on time it proves to be a joke so far from reality that it might be considered a different thing that what’s been advertised then somehow this all turns on the fans. It’s their fault. They pushed too hard, they raised their expectations they didn’t hail the god of gaming or whatever. So I think the amount of screw overs in gaming gives gamers a right to have some standards about the games and their developers.

That being said, I think the game looks decent and I think a launch in June is fine.

Yeah im on the same trail of thought as you, I’m just a sceptical when it comes to blizzard; this is the last chance I give blizzard. I’m out with this one unless they make something decent which isnt monetized up the wazoo.

The sunk cost fallacy is a big part of it for sure.

Fair point, it’s not entirely down to the consumer; I mean the whole idea of marketing is to overhype and make something look better than it really is. I really dislike marketing to be honest for as useful as it is.
It’s downright the art of manipulation.

How would you feel if you knew that the Devs responsible didn’t receive your personal feedback from these forums and it was the communication team that only saw the negative non constructive criticism? Maybe if more ppl knew the chain of command, they would have less push back?

Here’s some insight on what Blizzard’s Development team receives from feedback on their forums.

I know that if I worked for Blizzard and was passionate about a project, I would read every news article, twitter, twitch, reddit, stream and especially these forums to see what others thought. I think there is a 0% chance that devs are not viewing these forums. Now they might paraphrase and skim as there is a lot to do, but they are reading. There are probably many points here that they would agree with, but was corporate handcuffed and made to do differently by the risk management teams. They are probably not even allowed to directly address the community without going through hoops.
