I was just looking at that 3rd party trading site and the prices stuck out at me as completely ridiculous. When you think about it, only a very tiny fraction of players even use that site, saying 5% is grossly overestimating it really. Keep that in mind as you look at pricing.
In the grand scheme of things, almost no one is using that trade site but when I put in very specific item filters I’m getting 50-200 results for items with all 3 affixes I want, mostly 2 or 3 GA.
If even 2% of the game population is using that site then there are THOUSANDS of the same exact items dropping all over the place. These items are in no way rare. It’s absolutely absurd that people are requesting 1,000,000,000 gold for an item that has 48 listings. There is absolutely no reason for that.
Now where this comes in to play for people not thinking about trading… it’s clearly obvious that these items are not actually rare and the concept of how bad it feels ruining the one good piece through tempering… is malarkey. Just a childish attempt at generating outrage. Just play and you’ll be fine.
People ask for a billion because people will pay a billion. Supply/demand and RMT gold farmers did cause quite a bit of inflation from credit card warriors.
I read posts like this once in a while and always feel a bit
I don’t personally engage in all this waves hands around sweepingly trade.
You have an opinion that is wanting 3rd party sites to be more accommodating to your preferences. I have an opinion that engaging with that sort of thing at all is childish.
I am a bit confused because I don’t understand posting here if your gripe is with some 3rd party shenanigan but your last though…
Dangit. I was hoping this would bring it all together but no, still feel really indifferent. I just can’t imagine caring about or utilizing trade outside of clan BUT I appreciate that you at least made me think about it.
this happens on every trading. folks hear about someone made billions and try to do same, with various success.
personally I got 3 GA uniques for below 250m. multiple GA legendaries below 100m. uniques with one GA typically cost less then legendaries
this is especially true for non-meta stuff. for meta items that have constant demand it’s possible to reach 1b and more sure. but not every random 3-4 GA item is going to cost much.
This is the problem that effected both the RMAH and the Gold AH. Bots are finding the gear and they are being duplicated. Gold is likewise found and duplicated and sold for real money. It’s all about playing to win.
This is absolutely not my opinion at all. I would have to use a 3rd party trading site first and that isn’t happening.
My opinion is that the players in D4, especially here on the forums, overvalue items in the game and that leads to artificial disappointment while tempering. If people had the inclination to see how poorly they judge value of something then perhaps they wouldn’t trick themselves into being a sad pup.
I’ve gone in trade chat and gotten several 3GA items for less than 5m each. I still think 5m is too high a price for something so common but it’s better than 1 billion.
I’m definitely on the side of IP banning any gold seller because F those guys. That’s not really the issue I’m pointing out here though.
Its all messed up so bad. I had a very nice amulet for sale at 1.1 B and some guy msg me on diablo trade and offers 5 B for it. I said yes of coarse and made the trade and am wondering what the hell is going on. Who offers to pay 5x the listing price? Just to make sure he gets it??? I am lost. His name was all symbols.
At least Im riatch again at least until I start rolling my chest again that cant hit Flameshield. Stuck on all defense skills which is ok I guess.
Also sold a boot with 6 mana and int greater for 210m.
Sold a blah movement greater boot for 150m.
The prices are getting rediculous to buy anything. I guess its RMT at work. No idea. Could just be normal inflation?>
i was looking thru a third party website where you can buy/sell gold out of curiosity. I wanted to see how much gold I had was worth in real money. It comes out to $15 for 2 billion gold. that’s super cheap considering i spent alot of time getting 2 billion gold in this game. Now imagine people desperate to get godly items in this game and that $15 for 2 billion is worth it for them.
