Yes, leave it. But

So I just saw this poll on twitter by Rod Fergusson, asking whether to to keep, or fix, the spiritborn. (Can’t add links in the post, just find his twitter profile, sorry)

I’m kinda perplexed that the question is even asked, or considered.

I know Bliz have said, that if something is broken, but fun, it is now their policy to let it stay that way until at least the halfway patch. And in general I agree, like, agree a lot, I think that’s a healthy approach and think that’s awesome.

But there’s fun broken, and then there’s the spiritborn, destructive broken. Whenever I join a pubic event, any overworld activity really, and see a spiritborn, I’m just out. There’s no reason to participate. Everything is dead before I even take a breath. Let alone click any of my skills. (Hyperbole I know, I actually have time to take a half breath, and click my skill, just the critter is dead before my skill lands).

I have no problem with the fun part of the broken. Let the spiritborn reach pit 200 for all I care. Let them reach 3K/sec aether in hordes for all I care. Let them progress fast, and unlock their codex in hyperspeed for all I care.

Problem is the destructive broken. If a spiritborn shows up in public content… That content is just dead for the rest of us. Deceased. Demised. Passed on. Not just pining.

But seeing that the poll landed on about 64% thinking it’s all fine, my solution is this:
Keep the spiritborn as is, but ban them from public content. BANISH THEM TO SOLO PLAY!

No, but seriously. I can’t bother to do maiden, or world bosses, or whatever public any more. I have quill volley trauma.

Hope Bliz comes up with some kind of solution soon.

The first part can’t really be true without the second part. If you’re OK with SB clearing “Pit 200” and getting 3k aether per Horde, then obviously they’re going to stomp all over your regular torment 4 content.

OP did you miss the other thread on this?

Most replies said leave it but buff other classes. I’m fine with that, if they’d actually bother to do it.

No of course not, I agree. Which is why I wrote that tongue in cheek, obviously not going to happen, “solution”.

It’s a bit of a messy post I wrote, I guess. So take this away from it; I have no problem with broken classes, unless it’s to actual detriment of other classes.

Here’s your first mistake. I don’t think you’re playing a Diablo game.

Yeah I definitely think they should buff the other classes, personally. If they nerf SB loads of people will just stop playing. Probably not what they’re looking for.

I guess I did
Might be that it was being written, while I slowly composed mine.

People always misquote what they said. They said they would still fix bugs and those could be nerfs or buffs.

Man, the mongo devs should grow a pair and make the decision themselves.

Just oof

Well, maybe.

I think some SB nerf is needed. Buffing everything else to to reach parity is probably a much bigger task.

And buffing everybody will kinda negate all the “streamlining” they did with patch 5+6. Then they’ll have to do another power pass. Or bring on another torment already, even though they sounded like that was ways off.

Just glad I’m not a Blizz dev

But perhaps a Torment 20, that’ll suck in all the spiritborn and leave the rest of us to enjoy the current torments would work hehe.

What a terrible and lazy idea to even do that poll.

LOL fair.

Though its very noticeable on bloodmaiden. I hardly see her spawn. I hell tides in general I guess. If I’m close to a SB, I never fight, just loot.
Some might find that fun. Not me though.

Disagree. Now we need Torment 5-8 added to the game, so we all have new aspirational content again. Better to bug fix Spiritborn to bring it back down to around Pit 100 like all the other classes and the aspirational content to pit 150 remains for everyone without having to inflate the game even more.

The fact that it hasn’t been nerfed yet is absurd. Can only mean that they want it like this, probably for expansion sales. Gross.

They need to buff other classes for sure.

I still wonder how many people cry about something that was obvious to happen. New DLC, new class, of course it was going to be overpowered.

I don’t remember people crying so much about overpowered Hota Barbs in S3 or the “fix” to them for S4 when basically every Barb build could one shot a world boss.

It made sense that POE players look down on D4 players.

no, don’t ban SB, let them enjoy the content because they pay the $$$ for expansion and deserves fun.

Don’t understand the hate at all.

If you in a group or zone with Spiritborn and everything dies quick, you can still cast your skill and see how it looks. Just cast your skill on corpses of demons and pretend it was you and it’s the same outcome.

And no you don’t need to reset your cooldown as druid on mobs or generate your mana or whatever you use on living mobs because you don’t really need to use skills if you have a SB in your team so be happy and enjoy the ride, collect everything.

Be happy you get rewards at end of most things or else you would run behind a trail of loot which is now no issue. That I understand would break immersion, but for now you can always cast skills on corpses of demons and pretend it was you. It doesn’t matter what “effect” killed the mobs… if it was Crushing Hands or Boulder who cares. And if you can’t cast poison creeper cause you can’t reset cooldown when mobs die before they get hit by you just wait the 20 seconds or kill some left overs, they don’t clear 100% all mobs they miss a few too and you can kill/ attack those to reset skills.

And it doesn’t matter if you clear a Pit 60 or 120 it’s the same content anyways. Just go in a pit 60 solo or whatever is doable for your class a few times and record the run and when you go back to group play just play the recording during the pits and pretend you are playing. Just wait til red portal comes. You already saw the death animation and skill animations anyways so who cares.

How can they bring any of us up to Spiritborn when the reason why it’s so strong is because of a lot of bugged interactions. So now they have to create bugged interactions and leave the game broken.

No, I am not for this at all. Bring the Spiritborn back to reality, and start helping ALL the builds hit pit 100. Don’t just let 1 build make it to 100. They all need to hit 100.

You know how much health things have, u know how much dmg a player needs to be at those numbers too, so help the builds hit those numbers
