BOO-YAKA-SHA!!! Thanks devs! OMGGGG such a HUGE QOL for us solo players!!! It’s pretty cool how playing in a party is still beneficial as each player opens up more items to drop. It’s a lot more fairer that each player have to earn their loot. Thank you guys SO SO SO much! Ofc when I’m in Seasonal mode I want to play in a party more. It’s a HUGE boon to Eternal mode though where there’s often nobody to play with.
- Lair Boss Loot
- Lair Bosses no longer require boss materials to summon and provide a vastly reduced reward upon death. Instead, when a Lair boss dies, a chest called a Hoard will spawn containing its loot. Each player must individually spend boss materials to open their Hoard.
- The first Unique item dropped by a Lair Boss will be from their unique pool. Further Unique Items will have a 50% chance to be from the general Unique pool.
- When playing in a party, Lair Bosses have a 33% chance per additional party member to drop an extra Unique Item from their unique pool.
- Lair Bosses now drop 5 Unique Items in Torment IV, instead of 6.
- Lair Boss Keys
- Each boss requires a Lair Boss Key to unlock their Hoard. This is one specific item for each boss, such as: Malignant Heart (Varshan), Living Steel (Grigorie), Distilled Fear (Beast in the Ice), Exquisite Blood (Lord Zir), Judicator’s Mask (Urivar), Shard of Agony (Duriel), Pin-Cushioned Doll (Andariel), Hatred Hearts (Harbringer of Hatred, Betrayer’s Husk (Belial, Lord of Lies).
- All Initiate Lair Bosses have the chance to drop a Stygian Stone, which can be converted into any Greater Lair Boss Key of your choice.
- Lair Boss Keys can stack up to 99.
Developer’s Note: We’ve received feedback that players would jump into a party, have a member of their party pay the material cost to summon a boss, kill the boss to earn the rewards, then leave the party. This behavior felt unfair to players who were paying the material cost to summon the boss, so now each player must pay the material cost to reap a boss’ rewards from their Hoard. Additionally, we received feedback that it felt unfair to pay the material cost to summon a boss to test your build against, only to die and not receive any rewards. Now, you can fight any Lair Boss on Torment Difficulty I and higher to determine if you have what it takes to best the boss before sinking materials into them.
Also mega hype about the new items coming out. First one for the Druid is a direct upgrade to my new Hurricane build
Gathlen’s Birthright (Unique Helm):
Affixes
- Inherent: Anima of the Forest Grants 15% Attack Speed
- +10.5-15% Willpower
- +224-296 Armor
- +2-3 Ranks of Humanity
- +17.5-23% Movement Speed While in Human Form
Unique Power
- While in Human form, Critical Striking enemies with Nature Magic 400-200 times grants you Anima of the Forest for 10 seconds.
- While infused with Anima of the Forest you gain the Perfect Storm and Earthen Might Key Passives.
So where are the people talking **** now?!? HUH? LOL!! You still lost a top player & builder from the Druid community!
Also this new item for Necromancers, I felt like you guys made this one just for me. I love it so much, of course I’ll make a new build on it! (seasonal ofc, so you can see how it interacts with powers & whatnot)
Sanquivor, Blade of Zir (Unique Two-Hand Sword):
Affixes
- Inherent: +60% Skeleton Mage and Golem Damage
- +32-50% Chance for Army of the Dead to Deal Double Damage
- +160-188 Intelligence
- +1,060-1,142 Maximum Life
- +2 Ranks of Skeleton Warrior Mastery, Skeleton Mage Mastery, and Golem Mastery
Unique Power
- Your Summons’ damage afflict enemies with Vampiric Curse. Consuming a Corpse also contributes a soul to Vampiric Curse, which can now stack up to 20 souls.
- Army of the Dead can now unleash the souls from Vampiric Curse, causing both Army of the Dead and the souls to deal 5-10% increased damage per soul unleashed.

It’s not much of a change though is it? You used to pay before the fight, now you pay after.

You don’t have to do the entire fight if you don’t have the mats, right ?
Basically what they allowed is people to “test their might” before committing, I actually like that change
The problem I have is “mini Belial” is an afterthought instead of something inclusive

You do the entire fight for free now, but the rewards are locked in the chest, which now requires a key.

6 of one, half dozen of the other.
This is the biggest change, imo
- When playing in a party, Lair Bosses have a 33% chance per additional party member to drop an extra Unique Item from their unique pool.
My question is whether or not boss mats to open the chests are 1:1 or use the same ratios we have now?
My complaint so far is that boss materials still don’t use the MATERIALS TAB!

I mean it’s a change….i guess…sort of.

All it really changes is how much space they’re gonna take up, when we pay, and now no freeloaders you gotta pay to open your own chest.

Because of how there’s no more freeloaders, it’s going to slow people WAY down on obtaining mythics. Of course farming in groups will always be faster than farming solo, but players will now have to put the same time into farming keys that solo players had to put in.

Was it said somewhere if loot is account bound in the hoard, or is it shareable?
i may have missed it, just catching up now\

I’m thinking because it comes out of a chest it would be tradable.

I don’t know that I even thought about farming keys this season, they just collected. I play completely solo. I guess the change is good if it stops freeloaders, but it does not really impact me.

The best part about this is all of the freeloaders who won’t be aware of the change going into it. I can already see them leaving empty handed after that first kill.

Dont hold back. Tell us how you really feel
I dont group so for me this bit of news was meh.

I actually like this a lot. So many freeloaders. This will stop that and finally we will see groups with players that contribute and not leech. And Wukong you said “Because of how there’s no more freeloaders, it’s going to slow people WAY down on obtaining mythics.” You are 100% correct, freeloading leeches will get mythics much much slower and that is a good thing.

I think the noteworthy thing here is how only the 1st piece will be from the bosses loot list, 50% on the second item. 5 items instead 6. So target farming just became alot harder. Now if boss can literally drop any unique in the game with a decent chance (i.e. not 0.1%) then could be good

I like aspects of this but dislike other bits too. Not really sure how to feel about this overall, depends on how bad those drop rates actually are.

And the bosses will be more difficult, which will simply mean people lower the Torment level, resulting in the same boring gameplay but with just fewer items.

Doesn’t this just make newer players suffer? Now you can’t take your own mats and farm your friend out for gear.

Why should I spend 100 hours farming mats & you/your friend spend 50 just because you have a friend? This is just hyperbole but you should get the point. It’s more ridiculous when you factor in a full party with tons and tons of mats that don’t represent the actual amount of chances that you should have.
There’s no way you’re going to convince me that having 4 mats should equal the same as 16. No frickin way man. A solo player has to grind all 16 whereas just cause you have a friend or joined a group, your 4 is worth 16? Get outta here w/ that.
In Season 8 you’re going to see a new shift where people aren’t going on the boards bragging about how many mythics they have & how these items are actually uncommon & not super rare. It’s gonna be great that those ppl aren’t gonna get those items as easily anymore.

wow you overthink alot, im not talking about joining a group, im talking if i already have (lets say)200 mats. Buddy starts game, i wanna get him geared. Obviously if your joining a pug your expected to bring your own materials.
