Yeah Barbs are Terribad. Fix them. How did this get out of Beta testing?

I’ve been playing since D1, beta tested d2, d3, d2:re, d4, and:

DPS is the suck
Defense is the suck
Cooldowns are too long
Not enough health
Not enough damage
Not enough potion slots
Special require too much fury.
Fury depletes too quickly…by the time you reach the next pack of monsters, it’s gone!
No life regen? Seriously? ffs!

I should NOT be getting annihilated by a level 8 mini-boss, and barely escaping with my life from random mobs in the open. I should be ONE-SHOTTING trash, especially fallen and skellies.

You know, like Barbs did in d2 and d3 and d2:re?

Fix them.

I can’t believe I paid $100 for this.

I honestly don’t get how this complaint isn,t more common, I just wanted a good melee class, holy crap I hated my experience with him. I despise his basic skills. I despise his resource generation. Against anything tough you’re just spending all the time dodging and incapable of generating anything unless you have some cheesy crap.

The class is utter trash to play leveling, I couldn’t care less if there’s a cheesy build or if its a good end game class, I’ve never enjoyed a melee class in a ARPG less than this trash.

I 100% regret picking Barbarian, these last minute changes in the middle of day one when everyone was leveling really screwed my build.

Trash decisions from Lizzard, what else is new?

That Vhenard boss holy crap died at least ten times and barely at second part of it.

If i realy try hard, i think my dmg is enough to kill a squirrel,… but i don’t want to be cocky.
But really, without the "aspect of disobedience"i don’t think i can handle any fight. it helps to surive, but thinking of conquering a stronghold, nope not in a million years.

it’s also sad, that the dev’s didn’t learn from the past, we had the same scenario 10 years ago. the hunter trolling around and killing the butcher in seconds. the barb screaming in pain and crying in a corner, hoping the pain would go away.

Well, he is not super crazy in terms of damage. But I do pretty ok in killing and surviving

Just adjust build according to your items and aspects

Completely agree! The Barbarian is not nearly on par with other classes. The problem is that its so obvious! Just packs of trash mobs can be bad news for a Barbarian. Mean while the Sorcerer is nuking the whole world!

yea, tried the barb and gave up, meanwhile the immortal Necro is utterly broken. I just defeated a dungeon with boss without needing a single health potion. Necromancers self healing is so insane.

Keep playing boys, it gets better as you get higher, barb scales hella hard.

The fact that blizzard removed shout cdr affix from items is bad though, especially with giving no feedback on it.

Nerfing Gohr’s… is a needed nerf, just hope they don’t completely ruin it and make the build unviable.

“Keep playing 50 hours and get all the aspects needed, then you might have fun”.

I’ll tell you what… I’m a level 59 barb… I was 52 yesterday when the nerfs rolled out and honestly they didn’t affect me as much as everyone is saying… I never switched over to WW barb so I didn’t experience the broken aspect of barb I’ve played REND barb since level 1 and have to say I love it, yeah it isn’t as broken as WW but its more fun & still does really good damage, I clear nightmare dungeons etc with no issues.

Same here. Felt a bit squishy until I pulled my head out and started using Fortify/Heal skills but rocking along happily now.

Barb is the best class in game, fury generation is a no issue once you optimize your build.

Ah the classic “It gets good after 100 hours!” statement.

Josh Strife Hayes covered this topic so well 2 years ago yet we keep seeing the same mistake time and time again.

I always picked Barbarian for my first class in a Diablo game (since D1). But at Tier 2 (which what I started with because I like a challenge), this feels terrible. I’m dying A LOT in dungeons. Super underpowered and nerfed. I don’t feel powerful. It’s like I have a rusty sword hacking at a tree. People talk about looking up builds, I shouldn’t go look at builds all over the Internet just ‘to get by’. I have been making an effort to try to gear up, but it’s like this catch 22 of needing to beat more powerful enemies for better gear, but I’m underpowered to beat them to begin with. I might either drop to Tier 1 (which I really don’t want to do), or just start all over again with another class.

Love the game though.

i for one just completed lvl 70 dungeon at lvl 58 with my barb with no shouts or whirldwind.

I feel like when I see these posts, the op thinks he should be able to stand in the middle of a crowd of enemies and just tank all their hits, while losing not much health, and then be able to one shot everything.

Thats not how this game works. You have to think a little more strategically to get by. Trying kiting enemies for a couple seconds then hit them with an AOE attack when a group of them bunches up in front of you. Maybe in the later stages of the game, when you have a lot of good legendary/uniques, you can probably take some sustained damage and not die, but no class is meant to be a damage sponge in this game from what I can see.

For the people saying Rend ftw, I just hit WT4 using rend and its brutal. The damage jumped up so much so that to even build the fury for rend I have to drink a few pots. I TP to town like every 3 or 4 encounters, not enjoyable.

For people say adjust how you play, none of the other classes have to adjust to this nonsense.

I saw a pretty large online gaming website publish an article about how the barbarian experience is uniquely different from any other class (in a more miserable way), and that is the simple fact of having to generate fury before being able to use any of their bread and butter damage skills…and therein lies the problem.

It’s not that you shouldn’t think strategically, you should, but that’s not what’s going on here. The fury build up and damage output is what we’re having problems with. Of course you have to build fury, but it feels off. It takes a long time and that’s not how Barbarian should play. Like I had mentioned previously, I see the slow build up of fury, followed by the damage output and it’s just not great. It doesn’t feel powerful. I decided to respec and use a Rend build, which I had to look up to optimize, and I am managing…ok. But I shouldn’t be looking up guides ‘just to get by’ (I understand that if you want maximum dps you would want to research every aspect of a build).

I should say I’m enjoying the fact that it is a challenge. Barbarian in D3 (even on hard difficulty which is equivalent to the WT 2 that I’m starting with) was a breeze, which got boring after a while. Here you have to think and move around, but again, once you build up that fury the output is not the best (at least at the low levels).

Agree, the hard part is my Necromancer hits harder with his melee weapon than my Barbarian does… SAY WHAT!!! LOL… i’m 1or2 shooting things on the Necro, with the Barb i have to hit things 5 or six times… say what!!
