I leveled a Druid to 100 prior to Season 1 starting. Leveling after 50 was done primarily in NM dungeons at +3 level for 25% bonus xp. The amount of runs needed to level would slowly climb by one or two additional dungeons per level. It was a consistent climb until 90. Things started slowing down considerably from 90-100.
In Season 1, the XP was nerfed to 15% at 10 levels. The battle pass gives +8% XP bonus. This should amount to only a 2% reduction in XP running ND +10 levels. Everything felt comparable until reaching level 70. The XP exponential climb I felt at level 90 during preseason started at level 70. Rogue is currently at 76 in S1 and 70-76 climb feels comparable to 90-96 climb from preseason. Something was changed that I missed. The leveling progress isn’t consistent with the patch notes. Did I miss a hotfix? Anyone else having a similar experience?
It does feel slow and tedious. I’m at 97 only doing 50+ NM dungeons. If it isn’t a hidden xp nerf it could just be that it’s kinda stale doing the same thing that we did preseason all over again.
Just checked my played time on d4armory for preseason Necro which I stopped playing once I hit 100, 4d18h vs 4d5h for 97 Rogue, so there isn’t much of a difference in XP gain as far as I can see, but it definitely feels like a bit of a chore.
Eh, you dont get 25% bonus EXP for doing 3 levels higher than your character. I cant find the link now, but after the last big patch they nerfed EXP from NMs to the point where you only get 15% extra EXP from taking on monsters 10 levels higher than your character. Its a joke.
I mean… it was nerfed 10% at exactly 10 levels over (from 25% to 15%), but from 4-9 levels over it was nerfed MASSIVELY and for every level over 10 it was also nerfed more. Unless you were only killing mobs exactly 10 levels over you and literally nothing else, the nerf is much more than just 10%. The worst nerf relative to before is at +4 levels (you used to get 25% immediately at 4 levels over, now you get 4*1.5%=6%), and at levels well over +10 (you get bonus base xp that used to be uncapped, which is now capped at +10 levels). This second amount isn’t as much as it sounds, its a flat amount that is a lot lower than the base amount per mob, but it’s still a massive nerf if you were farming a lot higher than +10.
Sorry. Maybe I wasn’t clear. I ran ND in preseason at +3 levels for the 25% xp bonus. I’m currently running ND at +10 levels for 15% xp bonus + 8% xp bonus from the battle pass. I should only see a 2% reduction in XP overall but transitioning from lvl 69 to lvl 70 in Season 1 has a noticeable climb in ND runs needed per level that’s inconsistent with my first play through in the preseason.
If you were running +3s and you are now running +10s, there is zero chance your xp is slower. The base xp difference alone is more than enough to make up the difference and then some.
At that point, chances are that you are just not having nearly as much fun, and likely not playing as fast as a result either.
There haven’t been any reports of lowered xp in this fashion behind the scenes, and there definitely would have been if they exist at a systemic level.
