When you stand still and press ‘A’ on the xbox controller, it keeps on bringing up the chat UI. You have to move while pressing ‘A’ to attack or interact. This becomes worst when you are interacting with an NPC, and have to press ‘A’ to continue. It’ll just bring up the chat UI, so you are stuck.

I’m playing on PC with Xbox-Controler and do not have this problem.

I have the same exact problem. I thought it was a problem on my end but I see that it is not. I posted on this issue too.

it may apply or not but try to close steam
I also use PC XBox controller
with non steam games it seems to override controller settings

Possible solution -
Disable Steam if it is running in the background.
This seems to have solved the issue for me.

This fixed mine. A no longer pops up chat, map button works every time instead of after a few clicks, using waypoints in the map wasn’t working at all and is fine now. Thank you.
If you have Steam running in the background, it could be messing with your control configurations. Go to task menu and quit Steam. It worked for me.
