I’m not sure if the issue is with my soft/hardware so I would like to check if someone else is also affected by this.
My controller stops working for few seconds, then game appears to be lagging a bit, and after additional few seconds ((sometimes more) controler reconnects. I use xbox controller elite 2 and did not have any issues during both betas and first night of release.
Is it just me?
I play on PC, no issues with other games.
make sure its connected via usb…
also download the xbox app software from the marketplace and update the controller firmware.
as a bonus, you can change the xbox logo color to red to match diablo in one of your profiles in the app
xbox accessories app from windows marketplace
Mines doing the same thing, never happened during beta. It also disconnects my mouse and headset. The only way for me to fix it is to restart my computer but then it just does the same thing 10mins into the game every time. eventually my mouse and stuff don’t reconnect and i have to restart.
I really want wireless option. I got app and everything. Someone on reddit suggested to get microsoft adapter, I ordered one and will let you know if this helped. However D4 is only game that I have this issue with, and only recently.
edit:
I’ve got myself an adapter and after playing through one dungeon I think not only issue is resolved by my controller seems to be more responsive. I don’t have time to play for couple of days, but I will update if I’ll encounter the issue again.
Seems like adapter is the solution, but again, the issue was not there few days ago.
i’m having the same issue. my game doesn’t lag and im using a standard xbox one controller but otherwise my issue is identical. i can’t tell what causes it, it appears completely random. it can happen several times in an hour or several hours can go by without issue. sometimes it seems to be caused by loading a new area, usually it just happens while walking around in the game world. it seems less likely to trigger while in combat but i might just be interpreting patterns that aren’t there.
so far i have tried:
charging the controller
updating the firmware of the controller
updating my bluetooth xbox controller driver (it was already up to date)
(also my batteries are brand new, doubt they have gone weak or whatever)
none have worked.
i tried this and can confirm it does not help. i would however add to your advice and tell people to check their bluetooth xbox wireless controller driver in the device manager if you are on PC, though it doesn’t seem to help with this issue, it could help with other controller problems.
I’ve a PS5 controller connected via bluetooth and emulated via DualSenseX. It also randomely loses connection, although I can see in DualSenseX that the controller is still registered and functions normally. I am however not sure if the controller works beyond DualSenseX, as I’m only playing D4 with it. Once it loses connection, the only way I can get it working again is to both switch off and on the controller, and also exit and restart the game.
Same issue that only started after the DDoS attacks began (2023.06.23).; using an old X-Box 360 wireless controller that works on other games. It occurs more often when changing areas, somewhat during combat, and less often when in (any) town except when talking to vendors or quest givers. Any interaction or update appears to intermittently trigger this behavior for between 3-5 seconds: (1) the controller light flashes, indicating a connection issue, (2) the audio drops out completely, and (3) the character drifts forward while control reverts to the keyboard.
Same issue here. Began approx. week ago.
I ran into the same problem, and this is a gamepad and official wireless adapter I’ve been using in other games without issue for years.
For me, the solution was to go to Amazon and order an 8BitDo USB Wireless Adapter 2, which has now replaced my official Xbox USB wireless adapter. I’ve played for several hours with it now and so far, no disconnects. On my Win11 PC there were no drivers required - I just plugged it into a USB port, it was discovered, I paired it with my Xbox gamepad, and that was that.
Update: I spoke too soon. After playing for another hour or two, the 8BitDo adapter also randomly disconnected. And unlike the official Xbox wireless adapter, the 8BitDo doesn’t seem to automatically reconnect a few seconds later. So, that’s a bummer. That said, I’m getting a lot more play time with the 8BitDo adapter between desyncs, so at least there’s that. This is an extremely odd bug.
Same problem but PS4 controller through USB
TRY THIS: Disable xbox controller in steam settings or better yet just be sure steam isn’t running in backgroud at all. This worked for my partner instantly. Steam will try to use it simuatenously there for the conflicting connection issues.
same issue. elite 2 controller via usb. every time i use m/kb or just randomly happen. Have to unplug to regain control
