Ice shards enchantment and the aspect that makes spikes come up from the ground make it real nice.
No I have Blizzard, my build is the second link that links to another post here.
I pretty much explain the usage also, and some thought behind it, just didn’t want to type it all up again. It’s strong but not OP.
If you are talking about the RageGaming youtube guys, that is not me, that is the broken build I found. Their guides seem decent, they put thought into it so worth watching if you are curious.
But I like to make my own builds, for me that is part of the fun of the game.
As Bodach posted just above your most recent post:
“My best recommendation is to do legion events. You just get carried and get good gear at the end. Twice an hour. Easy peasy. After a couple, you’ll be geared enough to head out to helltide, most likely”.
I checked this out on the Internet and these are group only events. As a result I think I should join a guild, or Clan is what I think they call it in this game. There is probably a forum for people looking to join one but if you are in one, and recruitment is open, I would like to apply. If it includes other people that are as helpful as you have been I think I would be very happy there. (I remember back in the days of WoW that being in a guild was really a necessity for boss fights which required careful planning and execution).
And now I will go back to the link in your original post and see if I can find your build!
I don’t think you need a group for legion events I just walked into one.
But overall yes you may want to try group play.
I am not in one at this point. I do have some friends that play. and group with them sometimes.
I would try here to find a group you like https://discord.gg/diablo4
but it only works as long you have your cooldowns.
if not white mobs are killing you.
i’m playing iceshard wizard too. the unique legs for 2 charges Frost Nova and the chance that frozen enemies cast Frots Nova when dying are bread&butter for the the build.
large packs are much easier then only a few or one elite mob.
chain reactions eliminates packs in seconds
I tried to join about half a dozen clans. All were full, so I started my own… duhhhh. I don’t like leading a guild but I’ll do it if it means I can group with others to do Legion Events. I really need to improve my gear!
And I am still learning to proceed with caution when encountering mobs. D3 spoiled me because dying was almost non-existent.
Are you aware that Firewall is very similar to Deep Freeze? When I switched from my fire based mage to cold based I deleted Firewall and added Deep Freeze. Both do a lot of damage to a lot of enemies and have a long (I think around 45 seconds) recast time.
I wonder if having both skills would be worth it, especially if they were each on different timers. Many times casting Firewall saved me from dying and Deep Freeze seems very similar, though admittedly I have only been using the later for less than a day.
I run firewall in the ArcLash Stun build over Hydra.
I would not compare it to Deep Freeze. At the Ultimate Equivalent level that would be Inferno.
Firewall is a good skill but it takes a few good seconds to become what it needs, plus it is stationary and placement matters for effectivity much like Blizzard. But Blizzard adds chill for a Frost build making it easier to freeze.
Now I suppose you can run the opposite enchantment to the way I do it, of frost bolt and be fire based to get both effects. But burn is a one step effect where chill to frozen is two steps based on percentage chilled.
Getting back to Deep Freeze there are 2 aspects. 1 Adds damage with spikes while in Deep Freeze. The other Heals and Regens Mana while in Deep Freeze. The second one is crucial I think because it lets you reset and play between your cooldowns without needing to use health potions.
For the group, starting your own is fine but it is a lot of work. Good luck with this.
I just get group invites by playing some times I join if I am not doing anything.
Once you get the hang of your new build and can clear screens people will invite you I guarantee it.
And Legion Events you can just walk into, you don’t need a pre existing group.
That one is actually awful, the extra charge is just not worth the cooldown, it becomes less reliable. Besides, you should have that legendary that increase your Lucky Hit Chance as well as the passive that gives you a chance to reset one defensive, sometimes you can chain Frost Novas back to back.
Also, you can stack a lot of armor, I am currently sitting at 5.300 something and it goes up to 8000 with that legendary that increases armor based on damage by 35%, + Flame Shield + Teleport + Ice Barrier basically makes you have an incredible survivability, it’s very hard for me to die unless it’s a one shot mechanic like not dodging Volcanic or standing on an explosion when the fire blessed mobs die.
It depends.
If you are playing to keep everything Vulnerable more often than not. Yes not worth the cooldown add.
If you are shuffling between cooldowns to trigger the Aspect that generates mana off cooldowns then no. Also better in the Arc Lash build where every cooldown stuns.
Both can work, 1 has more damage for sure, 2 has more utility.
Irres, I don’t know if you will ever see this, but I just want to express my gratitude for the help you provided me. I just killed Andariel a few minutes ago and I am not sure if I ever would have been successful without your help.
I farmed legendaries until I pretty much duplicated the stats you recommended I have. I have reached level 54 and completed all the requirements for the extra five skill points and the extra potions.
I also increased my teleport skill by one, had several aspects that allowed me to walk around for a couple of extra seconds after teleporting. My total teleport skill was 6 and I found this to be very effective. I killed her on my second attempt. I would just hit teleport every time it reset (I deleted blizzard from my toolbar for this fight).
I was cruising until nightmare 65 dungeons or so, now the flaws are definitely starting to show.
Everything is good and no issues up to that point, but sorcs definitely fall off once hitting that level 65 key rank for nightmare dungeons when compared to other classes
Level 77 sorc, did a nightmare level 100 dungeon just fine. I don’t use an ult and add extra points to other places in my skill tree. Extra passive proc, 50% chance to spread your freeze, lots of luck chance for mana, equals mobs melting. Jump in, freeze, ice armor and ice shard them to death. You have to have the right gear, spec, and vuln setup. I actually feel once people figure it out it’ll get nerfed.
Crit, luck hit, vuln for mana, spec your paragon for it too, with cool down reduction, and the sorc is crazy good.
I don’t know (obviously) as I am only level 54, but this game seems so well planned out that I suspect every class is viable if set up correctly. There are many many ways to make adjustments to your character.
Trust me, I thought the same as well. But once you’re around 100 you will see other classes start taking off.
I had to sacrifice a lot of my damage as sorc just to be able to somewhat survive higher tier nightmare dungeons, to the point now I’m not competing with other classes in damage, and I’m still the worst in terms of survivability.
In no way am I saying it’s not viable, as I’m still capable of clearing in the level 60s currently, but you will see exactly what I mean when you start playing with Druids or barbarians and what they can do compared to you
You are most welcome. I am glad I could help, and more glad you are enjoying it.
What Keystones is saying may happen, I don’t know for sure I have not hit that wall yet, just revisit your build and think to see what you can adjust.
Don’t worry about comparing against other classes so much as being capable of doing the tiers yourself.
Good luck to you, I am .irres on bnet now…not sure how the new naming works…but send me a friend invite at some point, if you want.
*My build has changed slightly also: I found a ring that adds spikes to Blizzard that do 699 dmg. I have an amulet that lets me take less damage in my blizzard. And I have all that frozen Vulnerable goodness going on still. As much as I dislike POE for one button clear, I have managed to turn this into that. Also have the Unique that has a chance to generate Frost Nova from anything that is frozen and dead.
I think I need to know your BattleTag number in order to add you as a friend. I tried to add .irres without any result. My BattleTag is qaija#1116. Perhaps you could search for that to add me as a friend. Not sure.
I also have a ring that adds spikes and still uncertain how Frost Nova works. Do you have it hot keyed as a spell? I have three more Strongholds to complete and then I will try Act II.
Irres, I tried to send you a friend request but was unable to do so. I’m not certain, but I think I need to know your BattleTag. Mine is qaija#1116. Hopefully you can send a friend request to me using that information. Or, if it is easier for you, just post here what your BattleTag number is and I will send you one.
