You balance the game based on statistics from players who discover and perfect the most OP builds, players who are online for 18+ hours a day, players who have one of their hands on the calculator half of the time.
If you continue in this direction there will be no such thing as “the long-term health of the game” because several hundred of the aforementioned players will be the entirety of the player base by the end of year 1.

nah you are wrong. Games should never be balanced around casual dad gamers.
Sad but true.
They decreased monster level on WT3 and WT4 open world so new players could have a easier time. Nightmare Dungeons(end game) remain the same.
I’ve had friends quit games before due to feeling like their characters lost a significant portion of their “power”, healers and tanks in WoW especially.
Waiting for them to login this week and see.
