Wow, you dare call this "Diablo"? lol

If anyone disagrees with you, they are a fanboy. Is that all you have?

Hasn’t D4 been in development for years? Lost Arc was originally released in South Korea in 2019. I think you’re wrong.

What a man child. Brings zero discussion, and just straight up complains and throwing toys out the pram. Got REEEEEEE written all over it. I swear all you guys hated it before the beta even came out.

I Loved D2 as a kid, but cmon. There was hardly any mobs in D2 until it got going, same with D3.

Items, you just chucked in whatever was better throughout the levelling process. Plus I think the items in D2 are just nostalgic, you are mostly restricted by getting certain items, and so many uniques are just rubbish. People have such a nostalgic, rose tinted view of it, it prevents them from looking at anything positive, or any changes. Doing Baal runs, or Meph runs over and over, is really boring. It was great back in the day, pulling that slot machine, but endgame of D2 is dire if it was released today.

The combat feels good in D4, it’s nice having multiple types of skills at each level, rather than split out skill tree in D2. Oh, you want teleport as a cold sorc? Going to have to dump a load of skills into the lightning tree. Respecs are a Godsend to allow people to try out so much more.

We have been able to look at D4 through a small window, so I have my gripes and negatives about it, but there is still a much bigger picture and game to unwrap in June. Plus… D3 was only really fixed by its expansion and so was D2. Go read up on the D2 beta, and everyone was complaining about that as well.

Take off those rose tinted nostalgia glasses, and maybe be a bit more open minded of what is yet to come.

Do people not understand the difference between opinions and facts?

Are you OK? Are you getting enough fiber in your diet? Do you need a hug? You seem really bent out of shape right now.

Exploration? Forget it. Chase the quest mark, dummy!

While sure, I can just follow the quest markers, a lot of the fun moments I’ve had have come from just wandering the zone, and coming across caves, ambushes, and mini-events at random. Trying to find all the shrines of Lilith. Mapping out all the dungeons to get their legendary affixes. I found plenty of exploring to do playing this weekend and last.

Open world? Sure, with 3 mobs here and there, once every 2 minutes of walking. EPIC GAMEPLAY

You might have been having some server issues. I was running across mobs and stuff to do pretty regularly moving through the world. But when servers were laggier, things got a little empty for me.

Awesome skills? No. Cast twice, “out of mana” follows. Go back to clicking one button, you pleb!

Yeah, trying to play this like D2 or D3 where you have your main big-blast attack and being able to spam it doesn’t work in D4. They specifically want you balancing your attacks between the big hits, and the resource-generating hits, and the secondary abilities. Once I learned to stop trying to just spam the one attack and do some good rotation and alternating, I rarely ran out of resource. D4 wants you to manage your resources differently.

Balance? I know this is a “beta”, but why skill 1 takes 3 casts to kill a mob, while skill 2 kills EVERYTHING on the screen with one cast? “tHiS iS bEtA, tHeY wIlL bAlLaNcE iT!”
Mhm, lol, for sure buddy

Skill 1 is a resource generating attack, Skill 2 is a damage attack. They’re meant for different purposes. But I do agree that broadly balance doesn’t quite feel right yet. On my Sorc I died a LOT. On my Necro, not once and I can walk through most dungeons.

Leveling up? Forget it. World scales. There are no attributes to allocate. Skill points add like +3% dmg. Laughable. Just give all the skills at the beginning, since respec is anyway almost free, what does it matter?

The world scales… ish. Zones have a level floor, but will scale up as you grow past that floor. So you are going to have trouble as a level 8 in a level 25 area. But yeah, I agree, scaling isn’t much fun to me either. I get the reason, they want the game world to always feel dangerous to the player, but it feels lame to be taking serious damage from an imp at level 25.

To the skill point attribution, this is also personal preference. I don’t care about it, don’t want to be fiddling with it, don’t want to be worrying if I’m doing the optimal pick every level. I want to pick my active abilities. And while there are some skills you pick that are +3% type upgrades, the skill tree is mostly full of active skills and significant modifications to those skills.

Respec cost scales the further you go, and while gold is easier to come by in this game than previous, I wouldn’t call the respec free by any stretch.

Itemization? Lol, only green “up” arrow matters.
Aaand you need to change your items literally every 2 minutes, because YES, amongst other reasons.

Someone else already pointed out advanced item compare.

Skill tree? Nope, like everything in this game, shallow, empty husk just pretending to be a skill tree.

Are you expecting PoE here? You’ve got multiple active skills to pick from, optional upgrades to those active skills, plus passive boosts to choose from. The presentation feels a bit weird, but there’s a lot of choice here for creating some pretty different builds.

What’s up with this weird zoom level anyway? Another inspiration from diablo immoral?

I don’t get this complaint honestly. What are you looking for here?

Other players with weird names running around randomly, breaking immersion (if there would be any in the first place)

Yeah, I don’t like this either when I haven’t opted-in. I’m supposed to feel special as this unique person who ate the blood petals and can see visions and I’m going to save the world… along with DeezNutz#4222. I try my very best to ignore other players whenever I run across them.

Very bad voice acting.

I mean… it’s a video game… it’s fine? Lorath is probably the best of the lot though.

Cookie cutter, shallow, mmo lite garbage. A boring mess of a game that is going to make money solely because of the Diablo name. It’s an absolute shame that Blizzard has killed off yet another franchise.

I would’ve agreed with at least some of those points, but unfortunately you’re cringe and write like a child.

Come back and talk about easy once you been in hell nightmare dungeons. The level of min maxing you can pull out from paragon points and proper affixes on gear in this game is very deep.

You probably haven’t even completed played diablo 1 on hell difficulty.

I’m sorry, do you have the full game already? Have you played those difficulties you spoke of?

Or is it just wishful thinking, and you’re talking out of your a**? :joy:

I love when people do it, that’s the full on fanboy mode.
How can you have an opinion on something that isn’t there yet, on something that you haven’t experienced yet?

I’m happy to change my mind about this game after the full release, if they address the points raised by me and others - as of now, we’re talking about the beta, which in the current state, is a Shi**y Korean MMO at best.

I played the closed beta so yes I have played to about lv 83 or something.

Well, I stand corrected then.

Glad that you liked it, can you share any details from it, or was it NDA kind of a thing?

Afaik there is an NDA on anything except this build of D4. All the shared impressions we got before was from this build.

There was NDA I thought that was over to be honest  Maybe I should say nothing more then.

I also had reservations early levels about density, min maxing etc. But if anything the options are to many on high level, if your brain likes to min max you will spend A LOT of time adding numbers together (and taking into consideration how easy it will be to proc) before spending a lot of gold respeccing.

Calling your subjective opinions about a game “facts”? Oh my… :man_facepalming:

this is probably the dumbest thing people say, this is how all ARPGS are, you find BIS for your build and only upgrades is same stats but higher tiers, literally every RPG ever

Reading these comments are kinda weird. Are some of you new to ARPGs?

All this talk of items being bad, when I find them better than POE items. (lol sockets.) and Diablo 3 items.

+Skill on items feels really good, but again I’m trying to figure out what some of you want? Cause the items seem fine to me from what little I played.

Imo,

  1. Not enough different normal affixes
  2. Rare items not able to compete with Legendaries and Uniques. They merely become crafting materials for legendary aspects.
  3. Way too many item types are locked to classes
  4. Way too many affixes are locked to classes

But yes, the itemization is better than in D3. Being better than the worst itemization in A-RPGs is a really low bar to clear though.

i never understood why people loved d2 so much. i was there, i gave it a chance. it was like a 16 bit game you could play on a commodore 64. personally i hated it. the look and feel and slowness. it just was not for me.

d3 on the other hand was polished. 1000x graphically better, smoother and kept me entertained for over a decade which is something d2 couldnt do for more than 2 days.

d4 now reminds me too much of d2 with a graphics upgrade. i am not having it. i was really expecting and hoping for d3 but new story, monsters, bosses and 1000x more customization.

i am extremely disappointed to say the least. i pre-purchased and got to level 25 on the 2nd day and i just couldnt bring myself to stay logged in. i missed the world boss on pre-purchase open beta but made it to one yesterday and if i was not already let down by just about every single feature other than customization and graphics, well the bottom fell out of it again for me with how the world boss works.

not impress. and i love the diablo story and setting. sad day for me. santa is not real.

So everyone who doesn’t agree with you is automatically a fan boy, all righty then. Here is the thing, I love diablo 2 r and diablo 4 beta, is this forbidden now?

I am a fanboy and I agree with you. I still have the big boxes for D2 and the expansion, the 2 collectors edition for D3 and I pre-ordered the D4 deluxe whatever the name is. And I agree with everything you said. This is a phone game with good graphics, not a Diablo game. Their focus is to sell cosmetic crap and that’s that. You can’t even play alone with no lag… this is pathetic.
