I play D4 with RTX 3060Ti 8G & 16G Memory in 1080P. Should I download the High-Resolution Assets? The introduction of installation only says that the 4k monitor will benefit the most from High-Resolution Assets. I wonder if 1080P benefits from it too. Could any dude tell me?
No. Even if theyve fixed the issues and you COULD run it (not likely), at 1080p even with everything maxed its not worth it and wouldnt be very noticeble.
The little disclaimer under the install option says 4k and ultrawide users will benefit the most from high rez textures. It doesn’t say that other users won’t benefit at all. If you have the space I would just download it. I did, and I play 1080p
Yes, a high resolution texture pack would still be noticeable on a 1080p screen, but the difference may not be as significant as it would be on a higher resolution display.
A high-resolution texture pack contains more image data than a standard resolution texture pack, which means that it can provide more detail and sharper textures. When displayed on a 1080p screen, some of this additional detail will still be visible, but not all of it.
I would download the pack and see for yourself. You may not be able to maintain a high frame rate with textures set to high on your GPU though, depending on your other settings. I’m not positive on this as I’ve only been testing builds running 1440p or higher resolution. Maybe someone else can chime in on that part.
Either way, I’d definitely encourage you to try it out, play around with settings, and see what will fit for you personally before the game launches. That way, you will not have to worry about those kinds of things at launch, and can just focus on enjoying the game.
If hes playing on a 70" tv, maybe, I dont see it being noticed on a 32" monitor to be entirely honest, enough to justify the frame rate instability that probably would come with it.
Well everyone is different in terms of hardware and perception and the point of my post was really just that, combined with the fact that it doesn’t hurt anything to try, as we will be uninstalling the beta after this weekend. You can then install the actual game with the packages and settings you’d like at launch based on trying it out on the beta. That’s how I’d go about it at least
Valid approach for sure, not arguing that, I just dont think the difference would be noticeable enough (and to the majority, at all) to justify the unnecessary load on the hardware (not a big deal but why do it if its not noticeable). Just saying “I am running high res textures” when theres no visible difference on your display isnt reason enough, in my eyes, to do it
Yea I mean I’m not positive it would be either and I don’t have a 1080p monitor to check but I’d like to know the results this weekend if OP goes for it ^^
Nothing to lose
It’s noticeable enough that you’ll get some enjoyment from seeing the high res textures. So run them so long as your fps doesn’t get gimped from it.
I bought a new RTX 3060 ti OC & Ultra wide screen.
Super excited for Launch.
thanks for the feedback on the High Res textures.
Well, it seems that there is no clear-cut answer to this question. Thank you all guys. I’ll try it myself and then determine.
Please report back your results! I have a really old card so I’m not downloading the high res, but I hope to have a worthy system when D4 releases.
I too play at 1080p with a good GPU. Played at all max with high res. I strongly believe you benefit from it without any DLSS etc.
I’ll remember it, dude. I wish it would not lead to a crash again.
5/14/23 Update
It seems the difference is only the Ultra Texture Quality. You won’t have the Ultra option if you don’t download High-Resolution Assets.
I do not run the game in Ultra Texture Quality because it requires 32GB of RAM, which I don’t have. The instruction for Texture Quality says the High Texture Quality is suitable for playing up to 4K resolution, while the Ultra Texture Quality is recommended for playing at 4k resolution. So I guess it means the High-Resolution Assets aren’t necessary for playing at 1080P, or you can try it yourself to determine which one you prefer.
I turned all options to ultra except the Texture Quality. The game can be run in 60FPS nearly all the time. That’s my experience & wish it helpful to you.
I can’t open another post due to no reply from others, so I add it to this post. Have a good time!
As some staring at the high resolution option in the pre-load this was the best result off google search. thank you.
Are they even worth it? Can’t see many comparison videos out there on normal texture vs “high res”
I’m running the game on 1440p ultrawide with everything maxed out and it looks great, will the high res pack put much additional strain on the system? I’m using SSD too…
