Are there only 4 total difficulty levels? Weren’t there a bunch more in D3 (like several levels of torment)?
Just wondering. I’m sure they can add more as I think the difficulty in programing AI is not making them good, but making them not good (not “perfect”).
I believe some people said during earlier beta tests there were 5. So hard to know how many the game will actually go live with.

4 is enough if they balance them right… D3 has like 20 settings… way to much

i guess it will go live with 4. And after awhile we get the 5th when they are done finetuning it. Might be with seasons.

I could see tier 5 being released as the 1st season mechanic.

Original D3 didn’t have like 20 difficulty settings. I can’t see Blizzard ever putting in 20 world tiers since that would require the addition of more capstone dungeons/bosses. 4-5 will be enough maybe add in another one with the expansion.
D3 needed more because of its ridiculous class sets that gave specific skills 80000% increased damage and forced you into certain builds for the season.
I am very happy that D4 isn’t (so far) going that route.

I think there is a world tier V and it is Hell difficulty.
Heck, in some interview a few months ago Blizzard said there was 5. It is a bit weird, and clarification would be nice.
To be fair, if their goal is that the last part of endgame should start at lvl 70, when tier 4 begins, rather than lvl 100 when tier 5 presumably began, then it seems like a very good change.
A negative side of course might be if the game is too easy at lvl 100.
Overall, fewer difficulty levels = better imo. If done right.
Sadly there is still 100 Nightmare Dungeon lvls. D3 style
Yeah, sadly launch day D4 will not have as much as end of life D3, but here’s hoping that changes eventually.
D3 launched with only 4. More were added later on.
There were 5 if you count the story mode, but I’m not sure anyone played it.
Won’t let me put a link to the article so I’ll copy and paste the info I found.

I’d like to know why torment comes after nightmare. 4 should be hell and torment should be a 5th difficulty.
itll prob get more with time anyways.
d3 started with what 3-4? now they got 16
*cant remember if inferno was 3rd or 4th dif. /shrug
*they cant stick to 5 that sounds too much like the division2 heh. they used the “world tier” term first and they got 5 of em.
wait a minute did some of the division staff get to work on d4? the extracting shards from pvp thing sounds a lot like extracting loot from the divizion darkzone, both pvpve scenarios… kinda sus.
The fifth tier was, according to the people in the earlier betas, between the two ‘max level’ ones we have now because the jump from nightmare to hell or whatever they’re called was way too steep.
Im pretty sure they mentioned in a video a year back that the level 100 boss opens up the last difficulty for true end game. I may be wrong.
the game is not released yet , and as in diablo 3 they will add new difficulties in the future , relax
D3 Vanilla was Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno was the final difficulty level.
I hope they don’t add a lot more. D3 went overboard with power creep which necessitated more and more Torment levels be added. Went from Torment 6 being the max to Torment 13, and finally Torment 16. Not to mention the ever increasing difficulty of higher and higher levels or Greater Rifts. I hope they don’t let D4 get so out of control with the power creep.
