Wondering about paragon carry over after the season

I think you’re close. I think it will add the season paragon xp total to the eternal paragon xp total. Therefore you will end up with the equivalent paragon points for the sum of those xp totals, until you hit the 300 paragon point cap.

There is no way they are going to be additive. That would make no sense. I guarantee you that you are just going to have whatevers highest. Thats why they said shared xp. Just like when you create a new character right now, it only has the highest of whatever you have.

That is not what they said in the video. they said your paragon experience will be added to eternal, not the paragon level. On the D4 channel in YT, look for the “progression updates” video from ~3w ago and go to the 5 minute mark. They explicitly say your XP will be added. They did not say your paragon level would be set to what you had in season.

K well you hold out that hope. Well see bro. Im not digging for any videos.

Edit: since you put it here I watched it. Personally, I think they misspoke like they usually do. We’ll see.

It isn’t a hope one way or the other, just stating what they said. And I added the link to it to the previous reply, so you don’t have to expend any more effort than clicking and watching and listening for maybe 10-15s.

Adding the paragon xp would be consistent with how it was handled in D3. Unless you have conflicting information from Blizzard, you’re just making up your own idea of how it’ll work based on nothing.

Like I said twice now… we’ll see. That means Im open minded to it. We wont know until we know, ya know? Blizzard speaks incorrectly or has bad wording all the time. I just dont see them doing this. And your right, it is my own idea of how things will work, just like you have yours. When I hear “shared xp” I dont immediately think “additive xp.”

I am genuinely curious as to where you heard “shared xp” from blizzard.

From the campfire chat. From patch notes

Going forward, earned Paragon Points will now be tied to Realm versus Character Level. This means that all Paragon Levels earned will be shared across all your characters on the same Realm.

Although that doesnt say what happens at end of season merge to eternal

Ok, now I see how you got there, thanks. Yeah that is, as you noted, not for the eternal switch. For that they explicitly said the paragon XP would be added to eternal characters.

Yes , paragons that you earned this season will transfered to Eternal , But no paragons that you earned this season will not transfered to next season , Basically every season start with 0 paragons , 0 gears and 0 skill levels ,
Just like seasons in D3 .
Now what is not clear is what happened to the following seasons , lets just say that this season u get 100 paragons and it goes to eternal , then u play the next season and u get another 100 paragons , Will Eternal get 200 paragons ?
In D3 it does , IDK in D4 VOH .

They don’t give a damn about eternal. You folks will additively get to 300 and that will be the end of your paragon journey. Why would it work any other way?

thats not how it works in d3 tho.

it takes whatever exp in season and adds it to eternal. 100 paragon in season d3 does not automatically make it +100 paragon in non season of d3.

if you are 100 in eternal, then 100 in season and the season ends, your eternal paragon will be around 145.

its 8,584,920,000 exp to get paragon 100.
add another 8,584,920,000 from the switch to the eternal pool
17,122,320,000 is only 145 paragon.

Yes when I say additive I do mean according to the D3 formula. You don’t take para 100 from season and add it directly to your eternal number. It is adjusted for the amount of xp it takes to gain a level in either realm. I would think even using that formula folks will reach 300 in eternal in short order, couple seasons at most

Yeah , it was like the below reply , what I mean is the XP level get added , not the paragon level … My bad

sounds like no one really knows if you get to 300 paragons of exp (someday/season) and they roll to the eternal realm if you are set for “life” on eternal. Meaning if you created a new character on eternal realm, you start with max paragon as soon as you are able to unlock that “level”? (again still not playing d4 anymore) just asking for future reference if i ever want to come back
