I bought Wolcen last night for 8 bucks and it’s a better game than Diablo 4.
You can dye any part of your gear, full transmogs the second you pick up the item, crafting, pets, you have talent points, a massive skill tree…
The game is a little clunky and graphics aren’t super great but as far as gameplay, it crushes this.

I think Last Epoch is a lot better than Diablo 4 in its current state, but I think Diablo 4 will beat out Last Epoch fairly quickly. Last Epoch has had years of player feedback while Diablo 4 has had a month since game release.
I will look at Wolcen though as ARPGs are awesome and I love the gameplay.
Yeah in it’s current state, Last Epoch is better but I still, somehow, have hope they’ll turn Diablo 4 around and eventually take the top spot.
Still have a lonnnnng way to go.
Yeah, that is why Wolcen went from 120k players on launch and now can’t keep a couple hundred playing at any given time.
Playerbase =/= good game.
Diablo 4 could have 2 million playing right now and it doesn’t make it a good game. Just popular.
Now go see how Wolcen was received at launch.
Even Chronicon is a better arpg.

Itemization in D4 kinda sucks but it is a good game (engaging, visceral combat). If ALL you care about is itemization then LE is better. If, on the other hand, you care about gameplay then I just don’t see it, even now with D4 just released. As for Wolcen: LOL.
Oddly enough didn’t Wolcen have monster density and itemization issues? I’ll pass either way.
weird comparison to make when you have 10 years of D3 experience + billions of dollars and the best talent at your disposal … you would assume you deliver a product that is not dog at launch.
I didn’t make the comparison. Just that Wolcen has been a buggy incomplete mess for years.
Wolcen is a pretty good game actually. I’m enjoying it tremendously and especially at it’s price point on steam sale.
Pistol and shield is so fun, I’m tanky and have decent Melee range AoE. Or I toss a turret down and chain stuff to stand in front of it, or I whip out my railgun and destroy stuff in a line. All the while I have a pack of 4 soldiers following me around. It’s awesome.
Pick it up on steam while you wait for season 1 to drop.
Just because I like Wolcen doesn’t mean I have to dislike D4!
And besides, Grim Dawn is the best of all IMHO of course.
Wolcen had a disaster of a release, but had several things improved since, just not enough to regain any of the playerbase it lost. Comparing Wolcen’s current state to any new release is a little bit disingenuous.
I wanna check that one out. I’ve been on an ARPG kick lately thanks to D4 and have recently checked out Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, and Titan Quest. All great titles so far it seems like and makes D4 seem even more shallow.
I backed Wolcen for big money back when it was going by Umbra on Kickstarter. I never play it.

I actually bought Wolcen while it was in starter fund, and yea even back in the early days it was really fun until they had a bug that allow everyone to get a shako like item for basically opening a chest (that killed the game). I havent re-installed it since but it was fun when I did play it
I loved wolcen. Sick graphics fun builds. No endgame when i played. Not sure if they ever came up with anything thst sticks.
Idk tbh i guess its better than D4 but still sucks game too. Its literally cash grab as people said about it before they felt scammed
I bought Wolcen on launch, we all know how buggy and clunky that game was or is even now.
But heck i actually have more fun with the class building and items there than D4. Multi billion corpo vs a small indie studio that was close to shutting down
