Withdraw stash, is

So I just went to take a look at the eternal realm withdraw stash tab from season 1 and what it says is the following, which is a bit concerning at least to me IMHO:

*Available till the end of the current season.
*When the new season starts, any items left here will be lost.

Now I am wondering, what is the reason within this game that the stashes are kind of problematic.

What am I supposed to do if I want to keep any of the items from ongoing seasons, just put them onto my main character and carry them around, create a mule character or just put them in the eternal realm already limited stash tab? What am I supposed to do if I want to create multiple characters and why is the character limit in game only 12 builds/characters? What happens in the 13th season?

I understand in terms of my own reading into this kind of limited stash tab issue is that one “should” pick and choose the best equipment for a current build and equip it, discarding anything and everything else which is “redundant” equipment wise but why do other games have kind of unlimited stash space at least when it comes to seasonal remove-only stash tabs?

Isn’t the maker of this game the maker of games inhabited by millions of players their games being respectfully, amongst others: World of Warcraft, Overwatch, StarCraft Diablo games… (implying here that server space from first and a subjective glance might not seem as such a huge problem?)

Could we maybe buy extra stash tabs with real money? Is this issue or thing ever going to be or become better?

Please give me your opinions because I don’t know in essence nothing about this, and all my knowledge comes from my experience in game but I always had the impression for instance that in Diablo 3 that there was for some reason enough space for items but admittedly I hadn’t played it a lot but a few season in total. I’ve played Path of Exile more though and there the remove-only stash tabs are permanent and amount wise: there are many of them for any player available more or less indefinitely.

Like, what are we supposed to do with the items we find and also a relevant question in this theme or topic is, are the seasons (mechanics) going to be available in eternal or “standard” realm?

Thank you in advance, and it was here not my intention to be (too) ignorant or inflammatory/toxic in any way, towards no one. Pure curiosity.

The stash problem is a big one, and it’s a coding problem more so then anything else. You must be new, but it’s been stated many times over that currently when you load into the game, and there are other players around you, your PC loads their Stash’s and all of their contents. Why it was programmed this way is anyone’s guess, but the big theory going around is that this is copy+pasted code from D3 as it had the exact same problem. However in D3 you could only ever group with 3 other people (4 total including yourself), where as Diablo 4 you can see up to 12 people (including yourself) in any given area.

As such adding more stash tabs would increase the amount that needs to load, which could cause even more problems. So until they actually fix the problem (which will take a long time), we’re stuck with bandaids such as how they changed gems into gem fragments.

Joseph Piepiora - When we say they [stash tabs] are expensive what we mean is that they create a lot of memory overhead. When you see another player in game you load them and their entire stash filled with all their items. This is what teams are working diligently to improve so that we can have more asap.

This was Joseph P.'s tweet about the subject when some one asked why we couldn’t have unlimited stash tabs, several months back.

I thank you a lot for your extensive explanation and taking the time to outline what the issue is.

I have heard about this indeed and I have no idea why this is, like in game terminology or logic why this type of design would be useful. Only thing I can imagine is if trading items but even then not everything is tradable…

Yeah. Here’s to you saying “until they actually fix the problem”, hoping for that potential fix. In any case thank you developers for your effort, game is nice and thank you Iggi for helping me out here.
