Will These Uniques Be Usless in 2 Months?

I would love to find out today if the changes to the uniques in S5 means that the old ones will be made useless/legacy (which I assume will be the case). If so, will this be the case again in 2 months with the expansion drop. I would like to know if the changes in S6/expansion will bring an item lvl increase, or become unusable after the max level decrease.

If you are seasonal, I know this doesnt matter to you. But if you play eternal this matters, and would be worth knowing. I personally will just sit these 2 months out if that is the case.

Yep, Thats the nature of seasons

Its just like most things in life, it expires lol

That had nothing to do with what I wrote.

Chances are when the expansion hits you’ll have to refarm all your gear. If the level cap is going to be 60 in the expansion, then you can expect the level cap in vanilla to be 50 and your current gear will probably be adjusted for level 50.

The old S4 uniques won’t be useless - you can still use them. They just won’t have the updated stats. In some cases, it won’t matter much. In others, you’ll certainly want the updates. Either way, you can still utilize the old S4 Uniques for the powers they confer; so no, they aren’t useless.

I’ve never seen an item become unusable - except for some special consumable in S2 and the cheat death thing in HC.

I don’t think “unusable” means what you think it means.

I just was using the term people use to save time and not write out the lengthy, “I assume the old stats wont change, and I will need to refarm for uniques with new stats. Will there be new system changes that make current gear not work well with the system changes in S6”.

This forum, I swear. Everyone loves to get a gotcha moment instead of just aknowleding what is the root of the question.

I dont think the current items will be made unusable with the max lvl decrease, but I would like to know what the big system changes coming in 2 months means for gear now. Mainly item level.

Eternal is tied to seasonal powercreep/balancing.

In VoH they havnt said if Ilv is increaseing on items but at the same time each season they rebalance items/skills which often shatters old broken metas into the ground.

Even though you’re on the eternal each season will force change in the eternal.

But you are answering your own question. And you already know the answer - which is why my reply was so glib.

Yes - you will have to farm up new gear if you desire the new affixes. The old gear is still usable, and guess what? You can use it until you locate a better piece. What do they call that? Oh yeah! GEAR PROGRESSION.

S5 just introduced new gear progression. Yes, it’s the “same” item (in name only), but some of the new ones are vastly reworked. Others, just some stat bumps.

As for S6/VoH, you also know the answer. The answer is: WE DON’T KNOW YET. The information hasn’t been made available. There may be more coming at Gamescon.

To fix this I recommend they make 1 spark equal 1 uber on eternal only for crafting. So any outdated uber can be replaced. Eternal only.

People dont say something is useless when that is the opposite of what they mean.

Hey smartass, maybe if you actually read my question. I said that I assume the changes will mean that uniques in S5 will mean that we will need to refarm gear to get the new stuff.

The main question I am asking (if you can get of your high horse and read), is asking how quickly will it be made “unusable”(*less than optimal) again via changes from expansion. S5 is only 2 months, so I am just curious as to what other changes are coming to systems (like item lvl) in a short period of time, that may make any grinding for new gear now, less usueful in a short span of time.

-Edit-

Yes… I know we dont know yet. That is why I am asking. Hey, so you may not know this, but there is a CC today, and they sometimes answer questions during them that they saw posted in the forums. So check this out. As much as I understand WE DON’T KNOW YET, I’m asking in the hopes of being able to find out.

Another fix that would probably be even easier to do without changing anything else is just have legacy marked ubers salvage into 4 sparks.

Jesus christ. Less than optimal.

Also, part of what I used “unusable” was with the changes to systems that will drop max levels. I assume that items will just drop in power to the new max character levels, but I don’t think anyonr knows for sure.

Again - you know the answer

Here’s the timeline:
Aug 06 - S5 drops. Previous S4 items will be eclipsed by S5 items. Your S4 items are still 100% usable and will aid you in gathering new progression to the new S5 updated Uniques.

Oct 08 - S6/VoH drops. Previous S5 items will largely be eclipsed by S6/VoH items. Your S5 items are still 100% useable and will aid you in gathering new progression to the new S6/VoH updated items.

There ya go. That answers your question of “how quickly”. Whether an item becomes “better” than it’s S4/S5/whatever incarnation is entirely up to your build and playstyle.

For example: the new Harlequin Crest loses +all stats in favor of +Armor. Do I need +Armor? Well that’s up to my character/build, now isn’t it?

We are talking about major system changes that I dont believe are going to be so drastic as to make gear not work with masterworking or item level increases as quickly as we have and will see in a short timespan.

I am only trying to ascertain if the changes coming in S5 will have uniques caught up and stabilized with the rest of loot reborn into expansion, or if there is a planned item level increase coming in 2 months, which means I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get the new uniques with the new item level since (as you said and I know) our uniques we have now will still work.

Sadly you won’t get more then speculation and semi-educated guesses off the forums. Blizzard would never answer your question on the forums itself, but rather in a Live Stream/Campfire or at the Gamescon at the end of the month. Just have to wait it out at this point.

Yes. I said in a previous reply that with the CC today, I know they sometimes answer questions they have seen asked in the forums.

SpadeZ, i got d4 as a gift and as much as i love playing it, if i have to refarm this season i wont buy voh and probably wait playing d4 again until the dev team gets a clue.

I expect some changes but the overhauls keep on occuring.

I appreciate you aknowleding the root of what is being asked.

I will still play, but may wait 2 months for what I expect to be 2 big changes in 2 months. I think it is worth clarifying for people, so that that don’t have a bunch of people unaware and upset.

Well im on eternal to save time, i farm and save mats to be able to roll new builds quickly and enjoy as many as i can.

In d3, i spent time just finishing all the major builds each era / season tweak across all the classes.

Usually d3 changes and tweaks either one build per class or they work on a specific class.

So while there is some refarming, its not like d4 in what they did in s2 and s4.
