Hey all! I just started learning how everyone’s snapshotting for PvP and in Dungeons. I’m excited to compete in the gauntlet and am just wondering if I need to watch rob2628’s video on snapshotting and if I need to learn how to do that. It seems like this in game mechanic is pretty useful for competing on the leaderboards. Someone message me so we can team up for 4p games!
Not EVERYONE is snapshotting, but everyone in that probably will be if it is not fixed by then. There was nothing indicated about when that would be fixed only that the developers are aware of it. In fact they have been aware of it since beta, so…
If you want to be competitive and think you have a chance against people who live, breathe, eat, and sleep D4, you will have to learn snapshotting for sure. You’ll also have to no life D4 every week for roughly 7 weeks if you want to continuously place in the top 10 of the LB. Mind you it gets wiped every week, so I hope you got some empty Gatorade bottles saved up.
Good luck adventurer!
I could see why snapshotting became a thing for AoZ for those pushing t25. I did T20 without snapshotting. We still don’t have information on the gauntlet yet but from what I’ve seen so far I doesn’t look like people will need to squeeze out those extra percentage points for it. It also seems like speed is going to be crucial so standing around setting up all you snapshots at the beginning of the run may not work in your favor.
But I suspect you know all this and this is an attempt at trolling.
You clearly don’t know who tf I am lol.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Diablo has ALWAYS been a game that has been won by using exploits and relying on members of the community to fuel your success ¯_(ツ)_/¯
You are correct, nor do I care. Either way as I said before good luck.
kid thinks he is important or relevant. lol
Maybe he’s some fancy streamer with 5 followers. Hell even if he had 50k followers it wouldn’t matter to me. This kid ain’t paying my bills lol.
With 4 posts here on the forums, i would venture to say no one knows you.
I would also venture to say no one really cares tbh.
It is what it is at this point.
Anyway, far as snapshotting, i would think that they are attempting to fix it and that is the reason why the gauntlet has been delayed. But that thought is wishful thinking, as historically blizzard does not really fix people that cheat/exploit.
Iggi is correct, but i would go further to say none of us (you and i and iggi included) will be anywhere near the top 100 or 200 players on the LB. And that is me (the super duper casual player with 8 lvl100 toons and 1200+ hours played in the game) saying it.
Can almost guarantee my name will never be on the leaderboards. If for some odd instance that it makes it on the leaderboards, it won’t stay there for very long. Which is perfectly fine with me. I’ll try out the gauntlet for sure, but I’ll never be competitive on it. More power to those who are competitive though. I’m just too old and have too many responsibilities for it now.
Look out guys we got a gangsta here.
I hope they do fix it. I just hope they don’t go to extremes that will limit players further than they’ve done in the past. They do like the simplest solutions though. I don’t wanna see things like:
- Locking all gear swapping outside of town to cure snapshotting
- Closing all trading and BoA everything for RMT’s and dupes
I presume the delay for Gauntlet was to address cheating and obvious QoL stuff D3 has. Like not being able to swap gears during a run, or change skills. The only snapshot I want is to see the exact load up the winner used when he finished the rift.
There are skill interactions like WoTB on barbarian that snapshot your beserking damage and after the skill is gone the bonus does not go away as long as you can manage to not drop beserking. If they can’t fix the problem on one of the most widely used skills in the game than there is no hope for fixing it anywhere else.
for the 2nd one it seem like the logic thing to do in my opinion and i would prefer for items to be BOA especially mats, and that only the mat user may drop an uber.
That being said
for the first one it could be easier than locking gear swapping : simply make it so all stats get recalculated (and buff canceled) as soon as you enter a dungeon or have a loading screen.
/facepalm
I am sure my group wont be the only ones to leave the game if this happens. I don’t trade with anyone outside of my group. We don’t even really trade. If I have something my friend needs, I just give it to them. Same with them. We’ve been doing this since the first Diablo. I hope they can be more creative then just removing yet another standard ARPG feature.
and quite a lot of people leave the game due to the state of the RMT as it is.
and many (all my friends) leaved D2 and D2R due to RMT and jsp being a thing that made D2 a bot and rmt wasteland with more bots than players
so…to each their own.
also, it’s an aarg, people should farm items , not being handed over items without effort.
only on D2 you mean.
since D3 didn’t had this feature except for a few weekas and D1 was played online only by a handful of people.
then again it’s all about point of view.
if they made a system like D3 where you could give item to the players / friend that was with you at the time of drop it could solve this.
What others were doing in the game effected you enough to make you quit? Even though you had the option to never directly play with the RMT, jsp players or botters? At least you had an option. With no trade, there are no options.
Not every ARPG has trade restricted to the point that D3 and soon to be D4 does.
I quit D3 after they restricted trade like they did. Their system they implemented was horrible as it meant if I got something while playing when a friend wasn’t, I still couldn’t give/trade it to them.
